This book is truly and incredibly skewed towards places in the USA and Europe. It is quite astonishing to note that Armenia isn't even included in it at all?? The Middle East, on the other hand, has such a rich and profound history, filled with numerous must-see sites that are of great significance. However, it is given the tiniest section in this book. This is truly disappointing as it fails to provide a comprehensive and balanced view of the world's diverse and fascinating destinations.

One would have expected a more inclusive approach that showcases the beauty and importance of various regions around the globe. The omission of Armenia and the minimal coverage of the Middle East seem unjust and do not do justice to the rich cultural heritage and historical significance of these areas.

It is hoped that future editions of this book will rectify these shortcomings and offer a more accurate and detailed exploration of the world's remarkable places.

It was an excellent book that contained a wealth of information about locations all over the world.

It provided detailed notes on how to travel to those places, where to go once there, and the best time to visit.

Sometimes, it even went the extra mile and offered information about where to eat and stay overnight.

The book was published a few years ago, which might pose a challenge for those who wish to use it as a guide, especially considering its prices.

Moreover, the book was rather one-sided in many aspects. The majority of the locations were from Europe and North America, although it did cover some areas of the other continents as well.

Another notable point was that many of the areas were concentrated in the United Kingdom and, in particular, the United States of America, as they had the most places featured.

It would have been even more valuable if the book had included all the capitals of the countries, enabling us to better understand the distances between different locations.

Also, the visuals on the map were quite informative, showing many details and occasions, which allowed us to clearly see where we were being asked to travel.

Overall, despite its limitations, the book still offered a great deal of useful information for travelers.

The organization, layout, and descriptions in this book are truly excellent.

The selection of entries gives the impression of being a bucket list for a wealthy woman from NYC who has a passion for fine art and has seemingly been bribed by all the most exclusive and costly restaurants and hotels worldwide to include them.

However, once you begin to skip over the hotel and restaurant entries, it can actually make for a rather good bathroom read, albeit still somewhat unbalanced (at least in the first edition - I believe it improves in later versions).

It's rather strange that there are no entries for the lovely Slovenia. There's only one entry for Iceland, and it's just "The Ring Road?" Additionally, every art museum is included, but there are no science and technology museums, and very few history museums.

Entries outside of the U.S. and Europe tend to place rather more emphasis on the achievements of colonists than is perhaps appropriate.

Nevertheless, I did manage to pick up a few suggestions here and there. For example, there are some places that my son might enjoy on a trip to Vancouver. Overall, it was an amusing book to dip in and out of for a year or two.

I haven't seen everything, but it's also not worth it. Literally, a large part of these things are hotels and restaurants for the rich. Just be normal and realize that most of those things don't deserve to be on this list, while all kinds of beautiful natural areas do not.

Besides, I have to report that when I went to see what was in South Africa, it turned out that the list was very limited, and for England, for example, that list was 30+ pages. What??

It seems rather unfair that such a disparity exists. The focus should perhaps be more on highlighting the true wonders of nature and unique cultural experiences rather than just featuring fancy accommodations and eateries for the wealthy. This way, people can have a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of different regions and be inspired to explore the real gems that each place has to offer.

Maybe it's time to reevaluate and restructure these lists to better represent the diversity and value of our world.

I took my time perusing through this book. I'm not an enthusiastic traveler, yet I valued the book as a kind of travel reference for possible destinations across the country and into Canada. However, in the end, this book is truly just a reference point. The same kind of information can be effortlessly found online, and you could probably obtain more current and updated details with great ease. The photographs, particularly in the Kindle version, are severely lacking considering the whole focus here is on places to "see" before you die. I was astonished by how many of these places didn't even have a photo.

This was an average experience for me. By no means a terrible read, but there isn't a whole lot that is distinct about the book that would make it a "must-read." It fails to offer something truly special or outstanding that would set it apart from other travel resources available. While it may have some useful information, it doesn't have that extra charm or uniqueness to make it stand out in a crowded market of travel literature.

Overall, I would say that this book is an okay option for those who are looking for a basic travel reference, but it doesn't offer anything that would make it a must-have for serious travelers or those seeking a more in-depth and engaging travel experience.

1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List by Patricia Schultz is an exciting second edition travel book from 2015. It showcases a remarkable collection of 1000 places from all corners of the world.

The world is filled with countless interesting places to visit. Sadly, as the title implies, this book can only cover 1000 of them. Despite its relatively large size, when considering the vast number of places listed, each entry occupies only half a page or so.

I have a strong desire to visit many of these destinations around the world, as recommended by this book. However, it may take years or even a lifetime to achieve this goal. Nevertheless, it will undoubtedly be a journey well worth undertaking. Every journey commences with a single step, and with such a plethora of places to explore, there is no dearth of adventures to embark upon.

The mantra "Been there, done that, live life to the fullest" perfectly encapsulates the spirit of exploration and discovery that this book inspires. I have a deep affection for this book and would love to come across similar ones that cover various other aspects such as films, books, anime, textbooks, TV series, manga, video games, music albums, foods, and more.

I am an avid lover of travel. It is my passion, my escape, and my way of exploring the world. Naturally, when I came across this book, I was immediately drawn to it and even went ahead and purchased it without hesitation.

However, as I delved deeper into its pages, I was shocked to discover that almost everything within was outrageously priced. It seemed as if the author was under the impression that travel had to be an expensive affair.

But I know for a fact that some of my most magical moments abroad didn't cost a penny. The simple act of walking along a quiet street, observing the local culture, and breathing in the fresh air was enough to create memories that would last a lifetime.

I think this book gives people the wrong idea about travel altogether. It makes them believe that they need to spend a fortune in order to have a fulfilling travel experience. But the truth is, travel is about much more than just money. It's about the people you meet, the places you see, and the memories you make.

This book was presented to me as a gift several months ago, and I am truly delighted to have it grace my bookshelf of references.

I wholeheartedly recommend "1000 Places To See Before You Die" as a must-have addition to your personal travel library. However, it leans more towards the nature of an encyclopedia rather than a traditional travel guide. It is user-friendly and neatly arranged by the major regions of the world (8). So, if you are planning a trip to a specific area of the globe, it would be wise to peruse this book before your departure. This way, you won't miss out on seeing something extraordinary that you might otherwise have been completely unaware of, such as unique national parks.

While this book is an excellent reference to have at hand, I personally prefer to curl up in a cozy nook and immerse myself in travel guide books for detailed information about places to visit around the world. I have a penchant for travel books that are written in a personal style, like "Extraordinary Dreams of an Ireland Traveler" and "Paul & Kiki's Guide to Vacationing in Italy: Making Your Tuscany Holiday a Treasured Memory". These personal travel logs offer not only the facts about fascinating destinations that you may have never been to before but also provide insights into the actual experience of being there, along with essential tips for traveling and even some entertaining stories.

"1000 Places to See Before you Die" is indeed a great book to own. I suggest keeping it in a place in your home where you enjoy reading very short passages. Each entry consists of just a couple of paragraphs, making it a delightful daily short read that can broaden your worldly perspective. This is precisely how I have been reading and enjoying it.

This is a truly enjoyable book to peruse and draw inspiration from.

It offers a plethora of interesting concepts and ideas that can be quite captivating.

However, it is important to note that this book leans heavily towards highlighting hotels and restaurants that are targeted at those with significant financial means.

While it provides a glimpse into the luxurious side of the hospitality industry, it may not be as relevant or accessible to the average reader.

Nonetheless, for those who are interested in the world of high-end hotels and dining, this book can be a valuable resource.

It showcases some of the most exclusive and extravagant establishments, giving readers a taste of the opulent lifestyle that comes with it.

Overall, it is a book that has its merits, but one should be aware of its specific focus before delving in.

I spent countless hours meticulously poring over this comprehensive compilation of places that are truly worthy of visiting.

Among them, there are indeed many places that I have no particular interest in going to. However, it is still an extremely enjoyable experience to read or simply leaf through this book.

As I do so, it allows me to let my imagination run wild and create my very own personalized wish list.

This process not only broadens my horizons but also gives me a sense of excitement and anticipation for the potential adventures that lie ahead.

Even if some of the places on the list may seem far-fetched or unlikely to be visited in the near future, just the act of envisioning myself in those locations is enough to bring a smile to my face and add a touch of magic to my day.

After a year and a half of trying, I’m going to put it down.

When I first obtained it, my intention was to learn about remarkable places. However, it turned out to be more of a travel guide than I had initially anticipated.

At times, I found myself simply skimming through it without uncovering anything particularly interesting.

Now, don't get me wrong. This could potentially be a great resource. But the problem is that it places a significant emphasis on places to stay and not much else.

There are so many other aspects of travel that are equally important, such as local culture, attractions, and activities.

It seems that this guide has overlooked these crucial elements.

So, it's time for me to move on and admit that I gave it a try.

Maybe there are other resources out there that will better fulfill my desire to learn about great places and have a more comprehensive travel experience.

I'm looking forward to exploring those options and seeing where they take me.
