Another fulfilling story

Sometimes, in a series, the second or subsequent installments can be a letdown. However, this is not the case with this one. It is just as wonderful as the first book in the Firstborn Series

The characters in this story continue to gradually reveal more aspects of themselves to the reader. They are so vivid and relatable that they could easily be your neighbors, friends, or family members

I am truly glad that the author has taken the time to fill in all the extra details and nuances. It makes the story even more engaging and immersive

I am eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series. There are so many interesting story lines that have been introduced, and I can't wait to see how they unfold and develop

This series has definitely captured my attention, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story with well-developed characters and engaging plotlines.

This was really quite good.

Katy Hart is the director of the Christian Kids Theater Group. It is a remarkable group of kids who passionately put on plays for the community, bringing joy and entertainment to many.

Then, there is Dayne Matthews, a famous movie star who has come to town to shoot his latest movie. During one of the play rehearsals, he catches a glimpse of Katy and is instantly smitten.

Tragically, one family of the theater group meets with a car accident and loses their lives. The kids, filled with grief and anger, initially want to seek revenge. However, Katy, with her wisdom and kindness, teaches them the importance of forgiveness and helps them understand that they need to let go of their hatred and forgive their enemies.

Dayne is deeply in love with Katy, but Katy has her doubts. She believes that they don't belong together as their worlds seem too different. Dayne, on the other hand, firmly feels the opposite. He is convinced that they are meant to be together and is determined to prove it to Katy.

I simply can't wait to keep reading the series and find out what happens next!

The storyline of the Firstborn series was truly fantastic. However, I must admit that I am not enjoying this series as much as I did the Redemption Series. Please understand, I really hate to give bad reviews to my fellow authors. But here it goes.

First of all, the writing style is driving me crazy. On every single page, it's like "Katy Hart." "Jenny Flannigan." "Ashley Baxter Blake." It feels like within just a page and a half of using their first names, we are supposed to have forgotten their last names. Trust me, I haven't forgotten. This is a pet peeve of mine when authors do this. We don't need the character's last name every single time their name is mentioned.

Anyways, that was my biggest annoyance.

On that note, I found Katy to be another Mary Sue. She is portrayed as absolutely perfect with no faults. I thought Bailey and Jenny were much more realistic characters compared to Katy. I also don't care for Dayne's character. He seems kind of like a wet mop. And since he and Katy are the stars of this series, I'm really eager to just get through it.

I also felt that Ashley's interactions with John were very forced. I don't want to say out of character because Ashley has always been impulsive, but the qualities that made me fall in love with her in the Redemption series just aren't there in this one. In this series, she comes across as an overbearing meddling woman.

I didn't really enjoy watching Dayne's conversion to Christianity either. This is basically how it seemed to me: For two books, Dayne is like "I can't believe my parents chose God over me. I don't care to believe in God, I want nothing to do with Him because of that. I'm going to investigate Kaballah. Okay, maybe not, but I still don't want to believe in God. I'm done with Him. Nothing to do with God." Then, he goes into a storage unit and comes out 15 minutes later saying "God is the best thing that ever happened to me, it doesn't matter what happened in my life, His forgiveness is life changing. God is amazing, I'm a sold out Christian now and I'm throwing all my old ways away." I would have preferred to see Dayne struggle on his journey to Christianity rather than having an entire life-altering transformation occur simply because he heard voices in his head. Sure, he read Elizabeth's letter, but hearing God audibly talk to him in the storage unit? If only all of our salvation stories were that easy. I just didn't get the same kind of gleeful transformation that I did with Ashley's conversion. There just wasn't enough substance.

But on the other hand, the storyline was wonderful in some aspects. The kids learning about Jeremy Fisher through Bible study and it taking the whole book to change their hearts instead of just a single paragraph was a nice touch.

The book wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. However, it was definitely better than the first one in this series. I'm not going to completely give up on it just yet. We'll see what book three holds.

This book served as an incredibly profound lesson on forgiveness.

When the van was brutally hit by a drunk driver, the initial reaction of all the older kids in the CKT was one of intense revenge towards the driver. However, Katy intervened and held a bible study with them. She shared with them the tragic life story of the driver, Jeremy. He had grown up in a lonely environment, without the guiding presence of a mother or father. As a result, he had turned to alcohol to numb the excruciating pain within him.

Gradually, the kids began to empathize with Jeremy and put themselves in his shoes. In a remarkable act of grace, they all went to the jail and courageously told Jeremy that they forgave him for the senseless act that had taken the lives of two of their fellow CKT members.

Ashley also learned the power of forgiveness when she discovered that she had an older brother whom her parents had never told the kids about. Katy further taught Dayne about forgiveness, emphasizing that true peace can only be found through God. Dayne, in turn, is slowly but surely reading the bible Katy gave him, and in the process, learning about forgiveness on his own journey.

This book is truly a spiritual Christian masterpiece, filled with valuable lessons that make one deeply ponder about their own life and the importance of forgiveness.
