This is the fourth book of the Firstborn series. However, it is not the best in either the Firstborn series or the Baxter family series. What I have truly enjoyed about the Baxter family books is how Kingsbury takes the common experiences that all families go through and then applies God's word to the specific issues that the Baxters are facing.

In this particular book, there is an excessive amount of what feels like treading water. If it didn't have to adhere to the theme of all the titles starting with the letter "F", it would perhaps be more aptly titled "Indecision". There is John's indecision regarding telling his kids about Dayne and reaching out to Dayne himself. Ashley is indecisive about who her brother truly is and how to make contact with him. Dayne struggles with indecision about connecting with the Baxter family. And finally, Katy and Dayne are both indecisive about what to do with their feelings for each other.

The second redundant theme, aside from indecision, is the evils of the paparazzi. They make Dayne's life as a movie star truly horrible. They are the very reason that Katy refuses to come to Los Angeles to be with Dayne. They also prevent Dayne from coming to meet the Baxters as he doesn't want to subject their lives to the terror that the paparazzi bring. Unlike the average family, dealing with the paparazzi is not something that the average reader can easily identify with. This is precisely what makes the other Baxter family books so enjoyable.
