praxagora

Praxagora is the lead character in Aristophanes' play The Assemblywomen (circa 392 B.C.E.). She and her female comrades conceive a plan to wrest control of Athenian governance. Once at the helm, women establish a socialistic utopia in which all Athenians are declared equal, private property is abolished, and the state provides housing, food, and general care to every citizen.
