Grew up in Boston, the son of an Irish American cop. Married to Dr. Cathy Ryan, mother of their 3 children: Sally (Olivia), Jack, Jr., and Katie (Kathleen). Former Marine Lieutenant who earned a Ph.D. in History and taught at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. After a terrorist attacked his family, he became an intelligence analyst at CIA in Langley, VA, then a financial analyst for two years, National Security Adviser to President Durling, then his VP. After Durling was killed, Ryan became U.S. President. (Secret Service codename: SWORDSMAN.)
