Hawk is a gypsy morph, the son of Nest Freemark. Soon after he was born, he was taken into the gardens of the King of the Silver River in order to protect him from the demons who would kill him rather than serve the Word.

After it was certain that the Word's forces would be insufficient to save the world, Hawk was returned to the world in order to save as many people as he could.
