GUY D'EVREUX (1179 – 1240)

A northern lord, with lands in Evreux in Brittany, Evreux is a cruel, unscrupulous man, obsessed with discovering the secret of the Grail. In spirit, he is the forerunner of Himmler's Nazi Grail hunters at Wewelsburg.

He first hears about the possibility of an elixir – the Grail – through the stories of Chrétien de Troyes, which start to appear in 1190. He is just 11 years old and Troyes' Arthurian Romances make an enormous impression on his young mind.

As an adult, Guy meets Philip Saint-Maure, a renegade member of the Noublesso de los Seres, and learns about the existence of the Labyrinth parchments. From Saint-Maure, Guy learns that another member of the secret society, a Jewish master bookmaker, is living in Chartres.

He also receives some sketchy information about another member of the society living in the household of Raymond-Roger Trencavel in Carcassonne in the independent domains of Languedoc.
