This remains my favorite children's book.

The poetry within it is truly superb. It flows beautifully, captivating the reader's attention from the very first line. The words seem to dance on the page, creating a magical and enchanting experience.

Moreover, the art is super representative of Dr. Seuss's very best work. The vivid colors, unique characters, and imaginative landscapes bring the story to life in a way that is truly remarkable. Each illustration is a work of art in itself, adding depth and dimension to the narrative.

I was amazed when reading it again that the story still moves me sixty years later. It has a timeless quality that transcends generations. The themes of friendship, kindness, and acceptance are as relevant today as they were when the book was first published. It is a book that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike, and it will continue to be a beloved classic for many years to come.

I truly relished reading Horton Hatches the Egg, an extremely entertaining book.

Horton Hatches the Egg commences with Mayzie, a lethargic bird tasked with hatching an egg. She is dreadfully bored and desires to go on a vacation. Horton fortuitously passes by her tree, and she requests Horton to sit on the egg in her nest, which he willingly agrees to.

Throughout the journey, Horton contends with the forces of nature in the jungle while perched on the egg. There is cold, dampness, and even snow, yet he坚守 his word and refuses to abandon the egg. Unbeknownst to him, Mayzie, the indolent bird, resolves to take a perpetual vacation in Palm Beach, where she relaxes.

Even when ridiculed by all the other animals in the jungle, Horton remains faithful to his promise. Additionally, Horton faces challenges from society as hunters sight him and transport him to New York, where he is sold to a circus. There, he travels to numerous states, allowing people to witness Horton sitting on a tree.

Horton adheres to his word, not leaving the egg regardless of the obstacles he encounters. Coincidentally, the circus halts in Palm Beach, where Mayzie spies Horton in the circus. She yearns to have her egg back but is unsuccessful.

The illustrations in this book are seamlessly integrated with the text. The book captivated me, compelling me to discover what would transpire next. I would be delighted to read this to children as it can stimulate their imagination and creativity through the diverse tones and illustrations present in the book.

An interesting concept indeed is the idea of an elephant sitting on a bird egg. It's quite a奇特的景象 to imagine. And then, after many months pass, something truly remarkable happens. The egg hatches, and out comes an elephant bird. This is a rather unique and creative concept that combines the size and strength of an elephant with the characteristics of a bird. It makes one wonder about the possibilities and the strange yet fascinating world that such an idea could create. What would an elephant bird look like? How would it behave? These are all questions that come to mind when thinking about this interesting concept.

A good lesson about what it means to keep promises is truly invaluable. Promises are like the building blocks of trust and integrity in our relationships and lives. When we make a promise, we are giving our word, a commitment that we will follow through on something. It shows respect for the other person and their expectations. Keeping a promise not only builds trust but also enhances our own self-esteem and character. It teaches us responsibility and the importance of being reliable. On the other hand, breaking a promise can have serious consequences. It can damage relationships, erode trust, and leave a negative impact on those around us. Therefore, it is essential to always think carefully before making a promise and to do everything in our power to keep it. By learning this lesson, we can become better individuals and build stronger, more meaningful connections with others.

I really, truly hate you, Mayzie.

Every time I see you, my blood boils with anger.

I don't know what it is about you that just rubs me the wrong way.

Maybe it's your attitude, or the way you treat others.

Or perhaps it's something more personal that I can't quite put my finger on.

But whatever it is, I can't stand you.

I avoid you at all costs and try not to think about you.

But sometimes, no matter how hard I try, you still manage to creep into my thoughts and make me angry all over again.

I wish I could just get over this hatred and move on with my life.

But for now, all I can do is continue to despise you from afar.

One of my absolute favorite children's books is truly a gem.

The cadence within the prose is simply enchanting. It has a rhythm that draws you in and makes you want to keep turning the pages.

The silly premise of the story is what makes it so endearing. It's filled with imaginative and lighthearted elements that bring a smile to your face.

This book is a must-read within its genre. It has the power to transport children (and adults alike) to a world of fun and fantasy.

Whether you're reading it aloud to a child or enjoying it on your own, it's sure to leave a lasting impression.

So, if you're looking for a delightful children's book, look no further than this one. It's a classic in the making!

(Zero spoiler review)
I simply cannot fathom that I am not only the first individual to pen a review for this, but also the first to rate it? What has this world come to? Currently, I am only reviewing the Kindle edition as, for the life of me, I am unable to locate the actual book itself on this site, aside from it being part of a boxed set. I have never delved into the other Horton books, and to be honest, I have little inclination to do so, as it might potentially mar the wonderful connection I have with this particular book. I have always been an avid reader and enthusiast of other (more renowned) Dr. Seuss books, both in my personal life and as a teacher. Despite my enjoyment and appreciation of them, I had always found them to be rather a curious phenomenon. I could never quite decide precisely how closely they straddled the line between genius and annoyance. That all changed the moment I first read "Horton Hatches the Egg." I can't truly recall exactly where I was or what I was doing at that time. But the profound impact of this book has remained with me ever since. So many children's books nowadays seem to choose to bludgeon children over the head with the same, monotonous, and lackluster messages of self-belief and respect for diversity. Now, those things are fine in and of themselves, don't misunderstand me. But few and far between are the children's books these days that can, either originally, intelligently, humorously, or some combination of all three, tell a story that isn't just the same tired, overused prose. Some children's books are so appallingly bad that they could almost be labeled as child abuse. Seriously though, I lament the state of children's books in much the same way I lament most other forms of entertainment these days. "Horton Hatches the Egg" is a very different kettle of fish. The ability to convey a message without explicitly spelling it out appears to be a lost art, yet Seuss has managed to teach children about kindness to others, including animals (which means a great deal to me), personal responsibility, determination, and keeping one's word, all while being entertaining, having a consistent and rather remarkable rhyming scheme (again, few do this these days), and featuring some simple yet gloriously engaging artwork. On the off chance that you haven't read the book yet, I will disclose nothing about the plot, but this book is truly, truly special. So much so that I fully intend to have portions of this book tattooed on my body before too much more time elapses. Every child should read this book, or have a parent read it to them. Obtain a copy by any means possible, read it for yourself, and form your own opinion. I wish there were more books like this in existence. I'm going to go and read it again right this very moment. 5/5

Read to a classroom of first graders.

The kids were well-acquainted with "Horton Hears a Who", yet they were unfamiliar with "Horton Hatches the Egg". This remains one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. Maisy persuades Horton the Elephant to sit on her egg as it's simply too arduous for her. Naturally, Maisy flies away and has no intention of returning. Meanwhile, Horton sits on her egg for a whopping 51 weeks, firmly believing that "I meant what I said and I said what I meant, an elephant's faithful 100 percent". The kids adore the fact that regardless of what occurs, Horton refuses to abandon his egg. They even get extremely angry when Maisy attempts to reclaim the egg as it starts to hatch! In the end, faithfulness and keeping one's word prevail!

This story not only entertains the children but also imparts valuable lessons about responsibility and loyalty. It shows them that when you make a promise, you should stick to it no matter how difficult the situation may be. The kids are completely engrossed in the tale, and it becomes a memorable experience for both them and me.

Muy CUTE!

There is a part of my being that was convincing me that this was going to have a terrible ending?? But no, it is extremely tender and I love Horton very much.

Horton, with his kind heart and unwavering determination, has won my heart. The story unfolds in such a beautiful way that it makes me believe in the power of love and kindness.

Despite the challenges and difficulties he faces, Horton never gives up. He is a true hero in my eyes.

I am so glad that I decided to read this story. It has brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart.

I will definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

Overall, it is a wonderful and heartwarming story that I will cherish for a long time.
