A new author has been introduced to me, and I must say that I absolutely loved it.

Their writing style was engaging and captivating from the very first page.

The story they wove was filled with interesting characters and a plot that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I found myself completely immersed in the world they created, unable to put the book down.

It was a refreshing and enjoyable read, and I can't wait to explore more of their works.

This new author has definitely made an impression on me, and I highly recommend their books to others.

This book is not as excellent as the first one in the series. However, it can still be regarded as a good standalone psychological thriller.

Definitely, there is more sexual content in this book, and there are not as many characters from the first book. I had expected more development of the original characters. Nevertheless, the character development in this book is fascinating in its own way.

After looking at the reviews of the third book, it seems that it contains even more difficult sexual matter than this one. Therefore, I have decided to stop reading the series here.

I would suggest that someone read the first book. However, it ends on a cliffhanger, and this is not really resolved in this book. Overall, I would not recommend this series.

This book is much more intense than "The Wonder Worker".

The characters in this one are a little more bearable than those in the previous book.

The action just keeps unfolding continuously.

I was constantly surprised to find that I wasn't closer to the end of the book, as the story intensifies at a rapid pace.

It really grabs your attention and doesn't let go.

The plot twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, it is a very engaging read that will keep you hooked from start to finish.

You won't be able to put it down once you start.

The author has done a great job of creating a thrilling and exciting story that will appeal to a wide range of readers.

Whether you're a fan of action, adventure, or mystery, this book has something for everyone.

So, if you're looking for a great read, give this book a try.

You won't be disappointed.

This is really a rather good piece to read.

However, towards the end, it became overly didactic. Each character was engaged in explaining the big questions such as: what exactly is evil? Why do people engage in bad things?

And everything seemed to circle back to the author promoting Christianity - albeit in its best form.

Nevertheless, this is just not what I had anticipated to encounter while reading a novel.

I was looking for a more immersive and less overtly preachy narrative.

The story had its moments of interest and engaging plotlines, but the sudden shift towards a more instructional and religious tone at the end left me a bit disappointed.

I would have preferred a more nuanced exploration of these profound questions without the heavy-handed promotion of a particular religion.

Overall, it was a decent read, but the ending could have been handled more delicately to better suit the nature of a novel.

I truly relished Howatch's initial novels. They were captivating and engaging, drawing me in with their unique charm and storytelling. However, when it came to this particular one, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. It seemed to lack the same magic and allure that her earlier works possessed.

The narrative in this novel appeared to be overly wordy, with excessive descriptions and philosophical musings that at times detracted from the overall flow. It felt as if the author was trying too hard to convey deep and profound ideas, rather than simply telling a good story. This made it a bit of a struggle to get through at times.

Despite my disappointment, I still have a great deal of respect for Howatch as an author. Her talent and creativity are undeniable, and I'm sure that she will continue to produce wonderful works in the future. I just hope that in her next novel, she will focus more on the story and less on the philosophical meanderings.

Booooooring.

The story was good, but it was extremely difficult to find it hidden within the text.

It seemed as if the author had deliberately buried the interesting parts beneath a mountain of unnecessary details and convoluted language.

One had to sift through page after page of what felt like filler material to catch a glimpse of the actual story.

It was a frustrating experience, as the potential of the story was evident, yet it was marred by the poor presentation.

If only the author had focused on highlighting the key elements and presenting the story in a more straightforward manner, it could have been a truly engaging read.

As it stands, however, it requires a great deal of patience and perseverance to extract the good bits from this otherwise lackluster piece.

It’s a story about forgiveness.

However, the main character is completely unlikeable, which is kind of the point. This aspect might turn some readers off, but it also adds an interesting layer to the narrative.

Another drawback is that the story seems to be about 200 pages too long. The pacing could have been tighter, and some of the subplots could have been trimmed or developed more effectively.

Despite these flaws, the theme of forgiveness is explored in a thought-provoking way. The characters’ journeys towards forgiveness are complex and often painful, but ultimately rewarding.

The author does a good job of showing the different ways in which people deal with hurt and betrayal, and the importance of learning to let go and move on.

Overall, while the story has its flaws, it is still a worthwhile read for those interested in exploring the theme of forgiveness.

I embarked on a second Susan Howatch binge, and this time, I devoured the entire series as well.

It was an immersive experience that took me on a journey through the complex lives and emotions of the characters. Howatch's writing is so captivating that I found myself completely engrossed in each story.

The series is filled with drama, romance, and intrigue, keeping me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I couldn't put the books down, eager to discover what would happen next.

Each character is well-developed, with their own unique personalities and flaws. I felt a connection to them all, sharing in their joys and sorrows.

This second binge has only strengthened my love for Susan Howatch's work, and I can't wait to explore more of her novels in the future.

Pretty much have not put this book down all weekend.

I had completely forgotten how much sheer pleasure I derive from reading Susan Howatch's books.

It's truly remarkable how her words can draw you in and keep you hooked from start to finish.

Thanks Shelli for not only reminding me of this wonderful author but also for loaning me the book.

I suspect you might have borrowed it from Kathy, but that's beside the point.

The important thing is that now I'm back in the world of Howatch's captivating stories and complex characters.

It's like rediscovering a long-lost friend.

I can't wait to see where this particular book takes me and how it will enrich my reading experience.

Overall, it's been a great weekend filled with the joy of reading.

This is a good story.

The plot unfolds in a smooth and engaging manner, keeping the reader's interest piqued throughout.

However, towards the end, it starts to feel a bit far-fetched for my taste.

It seems as if the author tried to create a more dramatic or unexpected conclusion, but in doing so, it lost some of its believability.

Despite this, the overall story is still enjoyable and well-written.

The characters are developed nicely, and the setting is vividly described.

If the ending had been a bit more grounded in reality, it would have been an even better story.

Nonetheless, it's still worth reading for those who enjoy a good fictional tale.
