I read this one as homework for a study.

As a friend told me it was an excellent study on forgiveness, I decided to give it a try.

Overall, it was a pretty good read.

The content was thick, which meant there was a lot of information to absorb.

However, at times, it felt somewhat redundant, and that made it take a while to get through.

Despite this, if you're specifically looking for a comprehensive study on forgiveness, then this book is definitely for you.

It covers various aspects of forgiveness in great detail.

I'd rate this book a G, which indicates that it's a good resource for those interested in the topic of forgiveness.

It may not be the most exciting or engaging read, but it provides valuable insights and knowledge.

If you're willing to put in the time and effort to work through the dense content, you'll likely come away with a better understanding of forgiveness.

An excellent resource and instruction is provided for all believers in discerning how to love their fellow sinners as they love themselves (Matt 22:38-39).

This book is truly a goldmine of wisdom. It expertly clarifies the categories that Psalms and Proverbs give us, namely “the evil person, the fool, and the normal sinner,” with the contrast of the wise man peppered throughout.

I was incredibly helped and convicted by this book. However, to be quite honest, chapters 1-9 are basically just a long-winded and often repetitive setup for the depths of wisdom and practical aid found in chapters 10-12.

I wish there was an abridged version consisting of just these last 3 chapters, with a title change and rebranding of the front cover. I firmly believe that more people would read and be helped by it.

Such an abridged version would make the valuable content more accessible and easier to digest, especially for those who may not have the time or patience to wade through the initial chapters. It could potentially have a greater impact on the lives of believers, guiding them in their journey of loving others as themselves.

Biblical examination of what it truly means to love difficult people is of great significance.

We can categorize them as normal sinners, fools, or evil people. This categorization helps us to clearly know how to boldly love each one.

For normal sinners, we should show understanding and forgiveness, just as God forgives us.

When it comes to fools, we need to be patient and gentle, guiding them with wisdom.

And for evil people, although it may be challenging, we should still strive to love them with a heart of repentance and restoration.

This understanding has truly helped me. If our heart towards others is filled with repentance and the desire for restoration, then we will know how to love them in the best possible way.

We will be able to see beyond their flaws and difficulties and reach out to them with the love and grace that God has shown us.

Love for difficult people is not easy, but it is a calling that we are all called to fulfill.

This is a very helpful book.

It doesn't embrace imprecatory psalmody, and the reason for this is that it was written by mental health professionals.

Their focus is on providing practical and evidence-based advice and strategies for improving mental health and well-being.

The book likely covers a wide range of topics, such as stress management, anxiety reduction, and depression treatment.

It may also include exercises, worksheets, and case studies to help readers apply the concepts to their own lives.

Overall, this book is a valuable resource for anyone looking to improve their mental health and gain a better understanding of the human mind.

About one-half of the book, specifically the parts within Chapters 7 - 12, I discovered to be truly excellent and highly practical. It provided valuable insights and useful information that could be easily applied in real-life situations.

However, when it came to the remaining portion of the book, I had a different opinion. I found it to be rather wordy and redundant. It seemed as if the author was attempting to cover an excessive amount of ground, perhaps in an effort to make the book appear more comprehensive.

This led to a situation where the same ideas were repeated multiple times, making the reading experience somewhat tiresome. It would have been more beneficial if the author had focused on presenting the key points more concisely and effectively, rather than overwhelming the reader with unnecessary details and repetitions.

Overall, while the first half of the book was quite good, the second half could have been improved by reducing the wordiness and redundancy.

Honestly, this is one of the best non-fiction books I've read in years.

It's truly one of those remarkable books that have legitimately shifted some of my paradigms. It challenges me to view sin, God, humanity, and the way of dealing with people in entirely new ways.

It is an incredible and beautifully humbling read. What's more, this was quite startling to me because I spend my entire life scouting for information on these topics, especially psychology, and have long since despaired of finding anything that was quite so catalytic.

There are a couple of points where it feels a little redundant in the 2/3 way through area. However, the last 3 chapters are truly life-changing on how to deal biblically and practically with different types of people.

Nothing could have quite prepared me for this book. The cover and description might even sound a bit vague and like every other self-help Christian book. But this is not the case at all. Dan Allender lays out his unique and profound lens for God and people in a way that is definitely worth the read. I already bought a copy for my good friend and told my husband, "You have to read this book!"

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a deeper understanding of themselves, God, and others. It will surely challenge and inspire you in ways you never thought possible.

Biblical forgiveness is a profound concept that is far from being unconditional and one-sided.

It is not about allowing others to go unpunished and be free to cause harm again without facing any consequences.

Rather, forgiveness is an invitation to reconciliation, but it is not a cheap or blind act of granting forgiveness.

This is wise advice from a Christian worldview on how to effectively and healthily love those who have wronged and hurt you.

The second half of the book is especially compelling.

I particularly appreciated the sections that outlined different types of offenders and provided detailed examples of how to interact with them.

This book made me consider perspectives that I had never seen before.

Overall, it is very helpful and has provided valuable insights into the complex topic of forgiveness.

There is a profound message on every page. The quotes, “If Christ had practiced the kind of love we advocate nowadays, He would have lived to a ripe old age.” and “Bold love is anything but passive. It is unpredictable, cunning, and creative. It is a violation of the natural order of things…..” offer deep insights. Christ's love was not the kind that sought self-preservation or adhered to the norms of the world. His love was bold and revolutionary. It went against the natural order and was full of unpredictability. It was not passive but actively reached out to the broken and the lost. This kind of love challenges us to step out of our comfort zones and love in a way that is creative and cunning, finding ways to make a difference in the lives of others. It calls us to be like Christ, willing to sacrifice and violate the status quo for the sake of love.

Such a great book! It is truly remarkable and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a genuine desire to learn how to love. This book serves as a huge wake-up call, opening our eyes to the true essence of love. As I read through it, I couldn't help but imagine the profound impact it could have on our relationships if we were to love people in the way the authors so beautifully describe. It makes me realize that love is not just a feeling, but an action, a choice that we make every day. I truly hope that everyone gets the opportunity to read this book and be inspired by its powerful message. It has the potential to change lives and make the world a more loving place.

God calls us to speak the truth in love. The words "cunning" and "crafty" are used to describe Satan and his followers. All too often, people are afraid to speak the truth in love, to reprove, rebuke, and exhort. Instead, they turn to other methods that often lead to even worse problems.

On page 152 of 2 Samuel 12, Nathan tells David a story to help him see his sin. In the same conversation, Nathan said to David, “You are the man!”

In 2 Corinthians 4:2, it is written that we have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways. We refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word. Instead, by the open statement of the truth, we would commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

2 Timothy 4:2 instructs us to preach the word, to be ready in season and out of season, to reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. We must have the courage to speak the truth in love, just as Nathan did with David, and not be afraid of the consequences. By doing so, we can help others see their sins and turn back to God.
