Elie Wiesel’s memoir is an extremely emotional book.

It takes you on a journey from his childhood in Sighet, Romania, all the way to Auschwitz at the tender age of 15.

Then it follows his path to France for education and his career as a journalist, and finally his life in New York City.

The memoir also covers events in Israel and the plight of Soviet Jews.

A particular passage from his meeting an old man at the wailing wall after the Six Day War will forever linger in my memory.

“An old man, who looked as if he were stepping out of a novel I was to write later, murmured as if to himself, ‘Do you know how we managed to defeat the enemy? Six million Jewish souls prayed for us.’ I touched his arm. ‘Who are you?’ I asked. He looked at me gently: ‘I am one who prays’.”

This memoir is truly one that will stay with me, leaving a profound impact on my heart and mind.

It serves as a powerful reminder of the horrors of the past and the importance of never forgetting.

This is the first volume (of two) of Elie Wiesel's memoirs. Wiesel, the author of Night and roughly 39 other books, provides a detailed account of his experiences.

The first 100 pages focus on his time at Auschwitz, a harrowing period that changed his life forever. What follows is a beautifully written narrative of his life after the Holocaust.

He describes how he became a journalist, his encounters with world leaders, and his various romances. However, throughout his life, Wiesel never forgot his使命 to be a voice for those who died in the Holocaust and to help his fellow survivors find their voices.

The book is filled with profound philosophical questions about religion, love, and survival. Wiesel's writing is a testament to his strength and resilience. He is a wonderful storyteller, able to convey humor, sadness, and hope in equal measure.

Overall, this memoir is a must-read for anyone interested in the Holocaust or in the human spirit. It offers a unique perspective on one man's journey from tragedy to triumph.

Elie was truly an angel.

His presence seemed to bring a sense of warmth and purity wherever he went.

The book that told his story was such a pleasure to read.

It was like opening a door to a world filled with kindness and love.

As I turned the pages, I was captivated by Elie's adventures and the lessons he taught.

His actions inspired me to be a better person and to always look for the good in others.

The book was not just a story, but a source of inspiration and hope.

It made me believe that there are still angels among us, and that their love and kindness can make a difference in the world.

I will always cherish this book and the memories it has given me of Elie, the wonderful angel.

Wow.

It is an incredible autobiography that spans from his childhood through the 1960s of the famous Holocaust survivor and author Elie Wiesel.

The narrative is a bit confusing at times due to his inclusions of Jewish words, phrasing, and traditions.

I often found myself googling various experiences to better understand those familiar with the Jewish tradition.

I truly appreciate his candor regarding his love life, survivor experiences, journalist experiences, and authorship.

It provides a comprehensive and intimate look into his life.

I would highly recommend for folks to read 'Night' first, as it offers a powerful introduction to Wiesel's experiences during the Holocaust.

Then, reading this autobiography can further enhance one's understanding of his life journey and the impact of those experiences on his writing and perspective.

Overall, it is a must-read for anyone interested in Holocaust literature and the life of Elie Wiesel.

I really wanted to engage with this particular thing, but unfortunately, I just couldn't get into it at this time.

There could be various reasons for this. Maybe my mind was preoccupied with other thoughts and distractions. Or perhaps the subject matter didn't initially strike a chord with me.

I tried to force myself to become interested, but it just didn't work. I found myself constantly losing focus and my attention wandering elsewhere.

I know that sometimes it takes time and patience to develop an appreciation for something new. So, I'm not giving up completely. I'll probably come back to it at a later stage and see if my perspective has changed.

For now, I'll just have to accept that I couldn't get into it at this time and move on to other things.

Extraordinary account of an extraordinary life.
This is not just an ordinary book. It is an account that takes you on a journey through an extraordinary life. The story is eminently readable, with a narrative that flows smoothly and engages the reader from start to finish. It is also quite moving, touching on themes of faith, hope, and survival in the face of unimaginable horrors.
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in theology or World War Two. It provides a unique perspective on both, offering insights into the human spirit and the power of belief. My son had the honor of attending a college lecture given by Mr. Wiesel, and it was an experience he will never forget. Mr. Wiesel's words and his story had a profound impact on my son, and I believe that this book will have the same effect on anyone who reads it.

The original article seems a bit short and lacking in detail.

It could be expanded by adding more specific examples or descriptions.

For instance, if it's about a particular activity, we could describe the steps involved in more depth.

Or if it's about a place, we could mention the unique features or attractions that make it interesting.

Additionally, using more vivid language and adjectives can make the article more engaging.

Instead of just saying "okay," we could say "alright" or "not too bad."

And instead of "a little boring," we could say "rather dull" or "somewhat uninteresting."

By making these changes, the article will be more likely to hold the reader's attention and provide a more enjoyable reading experience.

A bit confusing and hard to follow for the ordinary reader, but it is no question that "All Rivers Run to the Sea" is a compelling and well-written memoir.

I personally found it hard to follow the story line because it does not always go in a chronological order. We have many, many details about the persons Elie Wiesel encountered in his lifetime. There are also details about the books he read and the political issues he had to deal with. In addition, there are lots of inclusions of Jewish words, phrasing, and traditions that a non-Jewish reader might find confusing.

Hard as it may be, this is a wonderful book, written by a wonderful human being. Elie Wiesel is a role model for most of us. We now get the chance to have an insight into how he turned out to be the survivor, the student, the thinker, the teacher, the writer, and the Nobel laureate that the whole world knows today.

Maybe it will take some time to pick up the second part of his memoir, but I will definitely read it! This memoir offers a unique perspective on Wiesel's life and experiences, and despite its challenges, it is well worth the read. It allows us to understand the man behind the legend and gain a deeper appreciation for his work and his impact on the world.

Profound, fascinating, and unforgettable - these are the words that best describe Wiesel's work.

In "Night," Wiesel has the remarkable ability to draw the reader into his own universe, a universe filled with pain, suffering, and yet, also with hope and resilience.

The vivid descriptions and the raw emotions he portrays make the reader feel as if they are right there with him, experiencing the horrors of the Holocaust.

After reading "Night," I was left with a deep sense of admiration for Wiesel's courage and his determination to bear witness to the atrocities that took place.

His writing is not only a powerful reminder of the past but also a call to action for us to ensure that such horrors never happen again.

I am now eager to read his other books and continue to explore the depth of his thoughts and experiences.

I believe that Wiesel's work will continue to inspire and educate generations to come.

I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to study under Professor Wiesel at Boston University.

This memoir is filled with numerous remarkable stories that he shared about his childhood and early adulthood.

As he was beginning to evolve into the person who would one day be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, these tales offer a fascinating glimpse into his journey.

Professor Wiesel was not only a great teacher but also an even better man.

His wisdom, compassion, and kindness had a profound impact on all those who had the privilege of learning from him.

Through his stories, we can understand the challenges he faced, the values he held dear, and the path that led him to become such an influential figure.

Studying under him was truly an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for a lifetime.

His teachings and example continue to inspire me to this day, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have known such an extraordinary individual.
