The feeling of rootlessness is vividly and effectively portrayed in this story.

Just when I would start to get a sense of stability, as if my feet were firmly planted beneath me and I began to truly enjoy delving into the narrative, Wiesel would unexpectedly change direction once more.

This constant shifting and lack of a fixed path made the reading experience far from enjoyable.

However, perhaps this was precisely the intention.

Maybe Wiesel wanted to convey the chaos and uncertainty that often accompany a life without roots.

By continuously changing the course of the story, he forces the reader to confront this sense of rootlessness and grapple with the emotions it evokes.

It serves as a powerful reminder that life is not always straightforward and that we must learn to adapt and find meaning in the midst of change.

Although it may not be a pleasant experience, it is one that can ultimately lead to a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Powerful themes are indeed present in this work.

However, it falls short when compared to some of Wiesel's other masterpieces.

The themes explored here, such as the human condition, suffering, and hope, are profound and important.

But perhaps the execution lacks the same level of depth and nuance that we have come to expect from Wiesel.

His other works have a way of captivating the reader, drawing them in and making them feel every emotion.

This one, while still good, doesn't quite have that same impact.

It may be that the story didn't develop as fully as it could have, or that the characters weren't as well-rounded.

Nonetheless, it is still a worthy read, as it touches on themes that are relevant and thought-provoking.

It just doesn't reach the same heights as some of Wiesel's other great works.

This work is not my favorite from Wiesel, whose stories typically have a way of captivating me.

I found it quite challenging to get fully immersed in this particular piece.

Moreover, I had difficulty remembering to go back and continue reading it.

It seems that Wiesel's better known classics are more worthy of our attention and should be the ones we stick with.

Perhaps this work didn't have the same charm or impact as his other renowned works.

Nonetheless, Wiesel's body of work as a whole is still highly regarded and has made a significant contribution to literature.

It's just that this particular piece didn't quite resonate with me in the same way as his more famous ones.

Maybe others will have a different experience and find something valuable in it that I missed.

But for now, I'll be focusing on his better known classics and exploring the depth and beauty within those works.

Although this book is truly about refugees, it is filled with fascinating insights into human thought and behavior. Wiesel, in his characteristic manner, has the ability to take a historical tragedy and make it applicable to anyone. His writing style is such that he can bring the experiences and emotions of the refugees to life, making the reader empathize with their situation. The book is not only a powerful account of the refugee crisis but also a profound exploration of the human condition. It makes one think deeply about the meaning of suffering, the importance of compassion, and the resilience of the human spirit. I highly recommend this book. It is a thought-provoking and moving read that will stay with you long after you have finished it.

I absolutely LOVED this book.

It is truly one of my favorites in the last year. The author has presented layer and layers of highly compelling theological ideas.

It is truly fascinating to explore and understand these deep concepts. Wiesel's struggle with suffering is something that I so deeply appreciate.

His honest and raw portrayal of the human experience in the face of pain and adversity is both moving and thought-provoking.

This book has not only provided me with intellectual stimulation but has also become a dear companion.

It has accompanied me through many quiet moments, offering solace, inspiration, and a new perspective on life.

I find myself constantly returning to its pages, eager to uncover more of its hidden treasures and gain further insights into the mysteries of faith and suffering.

It is a book that I will cherish for a long time to come.

The first 65 pages of this novel made me want to put it down, place it back on the shelf, and admit my mistake.

The protagonist is a ghost writer by profession, and the novel includes excerpts from a novel he is penning with the intention of publishing it under his own name. I thought the novel within the novel was awful, but perhaps that was the intended feeling. However, I struggled to understand its relevance. It was supposed to be his great achievement, the establishment of his own identity. Maybe that was the point: the contrast between his personal history and what he was attempting to accomplish.

Like some other readers, I found the switching back and forth between the third person and the first person distracting and confusing. I prefer a structure that enhances the story or provides the appropriate foundation on which to build the story, not something that seems arbitrary. It was probably not arbitrary, but I couldn't determine the purpose. It felt like a failed experiment.

The base story eventually captured my attention. The sense of being uprooted was conveyed in numerous ways, including the decision not to bring many of the subplots to a conclusion. There was enough that was interesting about this novel to make me think that I might truly enjoy some of his other works.

DNF.

I think this is the first book of Eli Wiesel's works that I haven't been able to finish. I made an attempt, truly I did. However, I just couldn't keep up with the story. It was all jumbled up; going back in time and then to the current time..... It was simply impossible for me to follow the narrative. It's a pity because the storyline initially seemed as if it would be quite interesting. But unfortunately, I have a long list of other books that I need to read, and I can't afford to spend too much time on a book that I'm not really getting into.

I understand that some books require more effort and concentration to fully appreciate, but in this case, I just couldn't seem to find that connection. Maybe I'll give it another try at a later time when I have more patience and a clearer mind. For now, I'll have to move on to the next book on my list and hope that it will capture my attention more effectively.

Somewhat dated, this text presents a narrative that is somewhat hard to follow.

However, the end message is optimistic as the narrator contemplates getting involved in a relationship with a female once more.

Interestingly, he appears to lack the insight into why his previous relationships didn't work out. This might very well be typical of male thinking, where emotions and relationship dynamics are not always thoroughly analyzed.

The text also contains much philosophical discussion, which can be quite engaging if one has an inclination towards such topics.

It makes one wonder about the nature of relationships, the role of gender in understanding them, and the importance of self-reflection in building successful partnerships.

Overall, despite its flaws in terms of clarity and modernity, the text offers some food for thought and a glimmer of hope in the realm of love and relationships.

The Time of the Uprooted by Elie Wiesel is a complex and profound work. It is written in a sparse style that is hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking. Reading it feels like having one's heart hollowed out, yet in the end, it leaves a glimmer of hope for finding peace. There are three excerpts that stand out.

On pages 89-90, Gamaliel drifts into memory, feeling the pain of his fading childhood. His visit to the hospital has left him exhausted, with a headache, racing heart, and heavy legs. He realizes that the years are hurrying by and there is no way to save them or share the burden.

Pages 230-232 express the idea that everything in the world has a heart, and that heart is the heart of the world. We must learn to listen to the sounds around us, as they hold the key to mystery.

On the last page, page 300, Gamaliel and Lili are bathed in the bluish light of dawn and feel in harmony. They discuss the meaning of "go on" and Gamaliel concludes that "begin again" is a better choice of words. They watch the sun rise, marveling at its ability to illuminate and warm the world, including the wounded hearts of the uprooted.

This novel explores themes of memory, time, and the search for meaning in a world that can be cruel and indifferent. Wiesel's writing is powerful and evocative, leaving a lasting impression on the reader.

"O Tempo dos Desenraizados" tells the story of Galimel, a Hungarian Jew who one day is called to the hospital to see if he knows an old woman about whom nothing is known as she had no identification. What unites them is that they speak Hungarian. For Galimel, it could be his chance to find someone he believes he lost a very, very long time ago and who saved him from certain death when the Nazis invaded Hungary in 1944.

"O Tempo dos Desenraizados", by Elie Wiesel, is a story about those who have no homeland and those who have no past. The solitary, isolated ones, old and experienced, waiting for death, without a chance of redemption. And in the midst, they remember their religion, why they are here, the guilt of the survivors, why to remind others so that the Holocaust does not repeat itself. But also about love, friendship, about what ties them to life when everything else crumbles. And it is all told in a gentle and calm way, sensitive and stoic.

It is not boring, not tiring, it does not tire the reader. It makes us feel sorry for the characters, but we know that in the end, they are okay. And that is the interesting part, which makes us remember why no one is an island. Recommended.

This book is extremely challenging to follow.

The plot is scarcely existent,跳跃 around on various timelines, alternating between first- and third-person narratives, and striving to be profound.

The protagonist is evidently a tortured soul (much like the author, who endured great hardships in his life), yet the disjointed writing made it extremely difficult to get through.

I had such a strong desire to like it, but reading it felt like a burdensome task, and now I'm simply relieved that it's over.

Perhaps with a more coherent structure and a more engaging writing style, this book could have been a great piece of literature. However, as it stands, it fails to live up to its potential.

It's a shame because the underlying themes and ideas seem interesting, but they are lost in the混乱 of the writing.

Overall, I would not recommend this book to others.
