This was okay for a sequel, but it really lacks the fun and creativity of the first story.

The first installment had a certain charm that made it truly special. It was filled with exciting moments, unique characters, and a plot that kept the audience engaged from start to finish.

However, this sequel seems to fall short in many aspects. The story feels a bit flat, lacking the same level of excitement and innovation. The characters don't have the same depth and development as in the first one, making it difficult for the audience to truly connect with them.

Additionally, the special effects and overall production value don't seem to have improved much. It's as if the filmmakers were more focused on cashing in on the success of the first movie rather than creating a truly great follow-up.

While this sequel may not be a complete disaster, it definitely doesn't live up to the expectations set by the first story. It's a disappointment for fans who were hoping for more of the same magic.

Pretty Silly

15 December 2019

You know how sometimes an author pens a book that gains such popularity that it gets made into a movie, and the movie turns out to be an absolute classic too. Well, this isn't that book. This is the sequel to that book, and let me tell you, this book is a disappointment. In fact, it's really bad. I guess there's a very good reason why they never made a movie out of this book starring Gene Wilder either.

To be honest, it's one of those books that I'd rather just forget. A part of me wonders why I even bothered to get my hands on it and read it. But then I remember that I read it a really long time ago, and I didn't want to write a review without giving the book another chance. The fact that the first book is a classic led me to believe that this one would be the same.

In this book, they end up in orbit after fiddling with the elevator. While in orbit, they discover that the universe is ruled by these vicious monsters that destroy anything trying to leave Earth's atmosphere, but they can't land on Earth because they burn up on reentry. Oh, and they also end up on a space station and start playing games with the American President, whose Nanny is actually his Vice-President (I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that idea).
Mind you, some people claim that we have a man-boy currently in the White House, but I highly doubt the current VP would be anything like his Nanny (and I suspect he wouldn't listen to her anyway). Still, this isn't a political commentary. However, one might suggest that Dahl was quite perceptive at times when he implies that the Vice President is actually more influential than the actual president, and the elected president is just a figurehead.
Then in the second half of the book, they return to the chocolate factory and there's some disaster involving anti-aging drugs that Wonka has discovered. In fact, these drugs can reduce your age by about 20 years, and in a rush to become younger, Charlie's grandparents gobble them up. As I said, this book ended up being really silly and bordering on nonsense. Sure, there might be some people who will protest, but in the end, I would recommend skipping this book and just sticking with the first one.

The second part has turned out to be a little looser than the first part.

And it is also less interesting.

However, I still laughed a lot at some of the scenes of the grandparents.

The story seems to have lost some of its initial charm and energy in the second part.

Maybe the plot development became a bit more predictable or the characters didn't have as much depth as in the beginning.

But those scenes with the grandparents were really quite entertaining.

Their antics and the way they interacted with each other brought a smile to my face.

It's a shame that the overall quality of the second part didn't quite match up to the first, but at least those grandparent scenes provided some enjoyable moments.

Bueno, qué decir.

I really had a great time with this book. There are more amazing things about the great Willy Wonka with new adventures, this time with Charlie's whole family.

Although it is a sequel, it is still fun and entertaining to read.

I just want to say this: I want a Vita-Wonka! Hahaha.

The truth is that he is a genius.

Can you imagine if the whole chocolate world that this man has created really existed?

On the one hand, it would be super.

On the other hand, for diabetics and those intolerant to sweets, they would have to make a huge effort to abstain.

This book not only continues the magical story of Willy Wonka and Charlie but also brings new surprises and joys.

It makes us dream about a world full of delicious chocolates and wonderful inventions.

Whether you are a child or an adult, you will surely enjoy reading this book.

So, if you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend you to give it a try.

You won't be disappointed!

Who on earth told Roald Dahl that the thing we liked from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was...the elevator?

Well, for me personally, here is a definite ranking of everything I liked in order:

- The sweets (obviously). They were the most enticing part of the story, with their vivid descriptions and mouthwatering varieties.

- The orange guys singing mean songs about children. It added a touch of humor and a bit of a naughty element to the tale.

- The concept of someone turning into a blueberry. It was a strange and奇妙的 idea that really captured my imagination.

- The idea that a chocolate bar could be life-changing. This was a great life lesson, teaching us that sometimes the simplest things can have the most profound impact.

- Wallpaper you can lick. Although it gives me the heebie-jeebies now, back then it seemed really cool and unique.

- Swimming in chocolate. Ditto the above statement. It was a crazy and indulgent image that made me wish I could experience it for myself.

- Permission to spend my old age living in a bed with my husband and my kid's spouse's parents. The dream, I guess, at least the lazy part.

Notice that nowhere in that list is "whimsical ways to get from one floor of a building to another."

Whatever. Everything about this book is a disappointment, so at least the title makes that clear upfront.

Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator picks up where Charlie and the Chocolate Factory left off.

If Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is Dahl at his best, then Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator is Dahl at his worst. However, children will still love the silliness of it all.

The best way to describe the Great Glass Elevator is clumsy and inane. The big differences between Chocolate Factory and Glass Elevator are that the former is silly with a point and congruent within itself, while the latter is pointlessly silly and seems full of discrepancies. In Chocolate Factory, there was a clearly developed plot and moral among all that silliness. But in Glass Elevator, I have no idea why it went the way it did. And even though this is supposed to be a sequel, there seems to be a discrepancy in the age of the grandparents. In addition, the story often doesn't seem to jive with itself. Of course, there is always the giant possibility that I was so utterly bored with this book that I didn't catch everything.

Needless to say, young children, for whom this book was intended, will probably enjoy the silly imagination of this story. But adults like me probably won't like it so much. I think I probably wanted more chocolate factory and less outer space nonsense.

With all due respect, but what the hell has this been. XD

This simple expression seems to convey a sense of confusion, frustration, or perhaps even mild amusement. It's a phrase that might be used when faced with a situation that is difficult to understand or makes no sense.

Maybe it's something that happened during the day, a conversation that took an unexpected turn, or a task that proved to be more challenging than anticipated. Whatever the case may be, this exclamation captures the essence of those moments when we just can't quite figure things out.

It's also interesting to note the use of the abbreviation "XD," which is often used to indicate laughter or a sense of humor. This adds a touch of lightheartedness to the otherwise somewhat exasperated tone of the statement.

Overall, this short phrase manages to encapsulate a complex mix of emotions and experiences in just a few words.

It's not truly straightforward to make a comparison between this follow-up and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

This particular one was enjoyable with the same set of characters, yet it was nowhere close to being as astonishing and magical as the very first book.

It really caters only to the die-hard "must read everything by Dahl" enthusiast.

One might have expected more from this follow-up, especially considering the high standards set by the original.

However, it still manages to have its own charm and entertainment value, albeit not on the same level as the beloved classic.

Perhaps for those who are less familiar with Dahl's works or who didn't have such high expectations, this book could offer a pleasant read.

But for the dedicated fans who are constantly seeking that same level of magic and wonder, it may fall a bit short.

Nonetheless, it's still a part of the Dahl canon and may hold some appeal for certain readers.

Nah!

Adventures in a Chocolate Factory were far superior to those with the aliens. I have a definite preference for Oompa-Loompas over Knids. In my opinion, it was rather on the shady side for a children's book.

Certainly, it didn't give the impression of being as good a sequel to such a beautiful and magical creation as Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. The story in the chocolate factory was filled with excitement and wonder, with the unique Oompa-Loompas adding a touch of charm. On the other hand, the adventures with the aliens seemed a bit out of place and not as engaging. The whole concept of a shady children's book is rather concerning, as it should be a source of joy and positive learning for kids.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory was a masterpiece, and this supposed sequel just didn't measure up. It lacked the magic and the heart that made the original so beloved. I truly hope that future attempts at sequels or related stories do a better job of capturing the essence of the wonderful world that Roald Dahl created.

This book definitely did not live up to the first one.

The plot was extremely messy and confusing. It lacked the creativity that was so prominent in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. In fact, it wasn't even half as creative.

Moreover, the race jokes in this book were highly inappropriate and made me extremely uncomfortable. They added nothing positive to the story and instead detracted from the overall experience.

I was really disappointed with this book and would not recommend it to others. It failed to meet my expectations and left a bad taste in my mouth.

I hope that future books in this series will be better and will avoid such offensive and unoriginal content.

I hope many children will read the works of Roald Dahl.

Roald Dahl's stories are full of magic and adventure, which can stimulate children's imagination and creativity.

The quote "\\"Aku bisa melihat pabrik ini akan berada di tangan yang baik ketika aku mengundurkan diri. Kau belajar dengan sangat cepat. Aku senang sekali telah memilihmu, anakku sayang, senang sekali. Nah sekarang, apa keputusannya?\\" (hal. 185)" shows the kindness and wisdom of the character.
