Reading with the kid is such a wonderful experience.

Oh, Matilda is indeed the penultimate Mary Sue. But you know what? I don't really care.

She is just SO over-the-top brilliant. By the age of five, she taught herself to read and was already devouring grown-up books. She plays wonderful pranks to right the wrongs and injustices of the world. And when things get really tough, she even develops superpowers!

Is it a wish-fulfillment novel? Absolutely! She gets a much better family, solves all the problems, and everything ends in love and light.

Is it unbelievable? Who cares! It's so sweet. And Miss Trunchbull was just NASTY, HORRIBLE, and WICKED. She definitely deserved everything she got!

Plus, when I finished reading it to my little girl, she said, "That was AWESOME, daddy!"

Fair enough. Fair enough. It's moments like these that make reading with kids truly special.

I have short-changed this story by giving it 3 stars for so long. It was a realization that dawned on me recently.

So, I ran out and bought this book for my little nieces for Christmas. I firmly believe that there is no way they should grow up without Matilda in their life. She is simply brilliant! Her love for books and knowledge is truly inspiring.

What a gentle and empathetic soul she is! I can't wait to share her wonderful story with my nieces.

On 8/28/17, I was listening to this for the third time. I just adore Kate Winslet's narration. She is fantastic and perfect for both children and adults.

Then on 11/12/17, it was an Audible relisten. I just cannot get enough of this story. Its whimsy and love of books keep me entertained while I clean.

On 5/24/18, it was an audio reread #55.

And on 1/16/19, I still felt that I can never get enough of this book.

On 7/10/19, I can’t go very long without listening to Kate Winslet’s amazing narration. I think I have many passages memorized by now. I could listen once a week and still be entertained. This is truly a perfect pairing of story and voice.

I used to watch this movie when I was a kid. And to be honest, I really don't know why it took me so long to read the book.

I truly loved the irony regarding the sexism that came from her mother and father. It was clearly a form of criticism.

However, I only had two issues with this book.

Firstly, the way every five-year-old child spoke and thought like an adult. It seemed a bit unrealistic and took away from the authenticity of the story.

Secondly, the end.

The end was really fast-paced. I think it could have been more developed and worked on. There were so many loose ends that could have been tied up more neatly.

Besides these two issues, it's a really great book and a fast read. It kept me engaged from start to finish and had many thought-provoking moments. I would definitely recommend it to others.

**Matilda, Roald Dahl**

Matilda is a captivating book penned by the renowned British writer Roald Dahl. It was first published in 1988 and has since become a beloved classic.

Matilda's parents, unfortunately, have given her unkind nicknames such as "Trickster!","Stupid!","Unconscious!","Lier!". However, in reality, Matilda is a little genius girl. The story then unfolds to show how Matilda manages to rise above her parents' treatment and prove to the principal that she possesses exceptional talent and power.

Roald Dahl has rightfully earned the title of Britain's Best Male Writer. He once wrote, "If you want to see the world through the eyes of children, kneel on the ground on all fours, and look at the adults who roll their eyes over your head and command and forbid you." The book's illustrator has also achieved great acclaim, winning the Hans Christian Andersen Video Award.
In Iran, the book has been published under various titles and translations. Some of the notable translations include those by محبوبه نجف خانی, شهلا طهماسبی, علی پناهی آذر, مهناز داودی, مرضیه نادری شهاب, پروین علیپور, and علی هداوند. Each translation has added its own touch to the story, making it accessible to a wider audience in Iran.
Overall, Matilda is a remarkable book that combines humor, adventure, and a powerful message about the importance of believing in oneself and standing up for what is right. It continues to charm readers of all ages around the world.

Matilda is an enchanting little book that holds a world of significance within its pages. It delves deep into the theme of standing up against bullies, regardless of their identity. It also explores the profound journey of learning to live with oneself and being true to one's nature, despite the pressures that those who are meant to love us may impose on our personalities. This book is a literary gem, written specifically for readers, and it firmly establishes the crucial importance of reading in a world that is gradually drifting away from the things that truly matter in life.

I truly wish that I had discovered this wonderful book when I was a child. It would have been a source of inspiration and strength during those formative years. It makes me realize how much I missed out on by not having this book in my childhood library. However, better late than never, and I am now able to appreciate its beauty and wisdom as an adult.

I remember vividly reading Matilda as a child. It was a magical experience that filled my young mind with a plethora of questions.

How on earth did Matilda learn to add those extremely large numbers with such ease? I would wonder. Why couldn't I do the same?

Also, was it really acceptable to get back at your parents when you believed they had done something wrong?

And were there truly people like "The Trunchball" in the real world?

Could I ever have superpowers like Matilda?

Why wasn't I allowed to go to the library by myself when Matilda could clearly handle it on her own?

Finally, could adults really be that clueless and stupid?

But now, reading this again just makes me laugh uproariously.

I find myself laughing so hard that I could almost cry.

And I am truly grateful to Roald Dahl for sending such a lovely and enchanting message through this wonderful story.

His creativity and imagination have brought joy and entertainment to countless readers, young and old alike.

Matilda is truly a remarkable character that anyone who reads about her will instantly fall in love with. Her brilliant mind is simply captivating and leaves us intrigued. I am completely certain that the extensive list of books she manages to devour in just the first six months of visiting the public library will serve as an inspiration to every reader. It will make them want to read and re-read the works of literary giants like Charles Dickens, Jane Eyre, Ernest Hemingway, and many other classics.

Matilda, a mere five-year-old, has almost self-taught herself everything from reading to cooking and taking care of herself. She is honest, intelligent, and truly deserves all the love in the world. However, unfortunately, she has parents who are selfish and cunning. Each time she thinks of her parents, who look at her as if she is stupid, a sense of despondence lingers in her heart. On the contrary, she is a little bundle of pure brilliance.

Even though I like to think I have eclectic literary tastes,

the reality is that I tend to gravitate toward the same authors over and over again.

Hence, if one were to peruse my virtual GR bookshelves online as well as my hard copy bookshelves in my home,

one would find that there are several authors that receive this privilege.

Interestingly, Roald Dahl was never one of my favorites;

however, because I am a Dad, I read Dahl because my kids liked his work.

(Later, I found out about his douche-baggy tendencies, but I always try to separate the work from the author.

If only perfect people wrote books, there would be no books.)

Matilda is a magical, whimsical story about a gifted little girl with numerous challenges that she attempted to overcome.

As usual, for a Dahl book, there is humor, silliness, magic, and pathos.

I remember that I enjoyed reading this book to my kids when they were younger,

and I also enjoyed having this book read to me via audible.

The story of Matilda is truly enchanting, filled with unique characters and extraordinary events.

It takes the reader on a journey through the eyes of a remarkable child who defies the odds and discovers her own power.

Despite my initial lack of interest in Dahl's work, Matilda has become a beloved part of my literary collection.

It serves as a reminder that sometimes, we may be pleasantly surprised by the books we encounter, even if they are not from our usual favorite authors.

In second grade, I read this book at least eight times.

It was one of my absolute favorites, and I would have reread it many more times if it weren't for my parents. They fucking gave away my Roald Dahl books, claiming that "I'm too old for them." But no, fuck you! My maturity level isn't fifteen yet.

At that moment, my inner seven-year-old seemed to have learned how to cuss. I was so angry and disappointed. Those books were a part of my childhood, filled with magical stories and unforgettable characters. How could they just give them away like that?

I still remember the excitement I felt when I first opened those books and entered the wonderful worlds created by Roald Dahl. Now, they're gone, and I can only hope to find new copies and relive those precious memories.

REVIEW TO COME TODAY.

The books had the power to transport her into entirely new worlds, introducing her to a plethora of amazing people who led exciting lives.

This book is centered around a brilliant little girl named Matilda Wormwood. She has an insatiable love for reading books. However, her parents don't seem to be truly proud of her. In fact, they don't even care much about her. Her father is particularly mean, and whenever he treats her badly, she will "teach" him a lesson. One day, something truly peculiar occurs to her...

  My Opinion

When I was a child, I watched the movie adaptation of this story and fell in love with it instantly. I loved it so much that I watched it several times over. Back then, I wasn't much of a reader, so I didn't feel any guilt about watching the movie before reading the book. Later on, I discovered the book and thought that since the movie was one of my all-time favorite childhood movies, I should give the book a try.

I vividly remember that when I was a kid, I wanted to be just like Matilda. I would even stare at a glass full of water for minutes on end while having my dinner, hoping against hope that I could somehow move it or make it hover in the air. Hahaha.

Now, let's shift our focus to the book itself. I have to admit that I didn't really enjoy reading this book as much as I had hoped. I think the main reason for this is that I already knew the story inside out from watching the movie multiple times. As a result, my expression was often like this description throughout most of the reading process. It was so incredibly boring that when I wasn't reading the book, I felt just fine because I was bored most of the time anyway. I mean, when we read a really cool and enjoyable book, we usually can't wait to keep reading it, and when we have to stop, we feel impatient to continue. But that simply wasn't the case for me while reading this book. I shouldn't have felt this way, but I have to be honest and say that I love the movie more. This is the first time I've felt like this since I became a reader. Usually, I tend to love the book more than the movie.

Thankfully, things started to look up towards the end. It wasn't as boring anymore when I was about to reach the conclusion. And I have to give a huge shoutout to the illustrations! They are so cute and amazing. ❤❤

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and like this review, guys. I hope you all have a great weekend!❤❤

This Roald Dahl classic, which was first published in 1988, holds a very high ranking on the list of the best children's literature.

Moreover, the movie directed and acted by Danny Devito might even be better.

The great characters that Dahl created, such as Matilda, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood, Miss Trunchbull, and Miss Honey, were all vividly brought to life in what is one of my favorite children's movies.

The story of Matilda is not only about a young girl with extraordinary intelligence but also about her courage to stand up against the adults who mistreat her.

The movie adaptation managed to capture the essence of the book and added its own charm with the excellent performances of the actors.

Danny Devito's direction brought out the humor and the heartwarming moments in the story, making it a delight to watch for both children and adults alike.

Overall, both the book and the movie of Matilda are truly remarkable and have become beloved classics in the world of children's literature and cinema.

She's my original villain story.

I have always been fascinated by her character. There's something about her that draws me in, perhaps it's her mysterious allure or her unwavering determination.

I wanted to be just like her, to possess the same strength and power. But I also wanted more, I wanted to surpass her and prove that I could be even greater.

Maybe it's a bit of a cliché, but I see her as my inspiration and my rival. I study her every move, trying to understand her motives and strategies.

I know that it won't be easy to beat her, but that's what makes it all the more exciting.

With each passing day, I feel myself getting closer to achieving my goal. I can sense her presence, lurking in the shadows, waiting for me to make a mistake.

But I won't give in. I will continue to train and prepare, until the day comes when I can finally face her and emerge victorious.

She may be the original villain, but I'm determined to write my own story and become the ultimate hero.
