I simply cannot give a lower rating to a book that transported me back to my childhood.

I vividly remember watching the movie "Matilda" countless times when I was a child, and I never got bored.

Revisiting this experience by reading the book was extremely pleasant and special for me.

Matilda is a very brave, determined little girl and a great lover of books. It is impossible not to feel empathy for her.

Her friendship with Miss Honey, the detestable Miss Trunchbull, and all the experiences of the protagonist make this a touching and unforgettable story.

The details in the book bring the characters and the events to life, making it a joy to read.

It's a story that not only entertains but also teaches valuable lessons about courage, kindness, and the power of knowledge.

I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those who have a soft spot for childhood memories and heartwarming tales.

This is Roald Dahl at his absolute finest. It is a classic children's book that holds such charm and magic that it should also be on the reading list of every adult.

The characters in this book are brought to life in the most vivid and engaging way. The narrative weaves a tale that is both exciting and heartwarming, taking the reader on a journey full of surprises. And let's not forget the illustrations by Quentin Blake. They add an extra layer of wonder and bring the story to a whole new level. It's as if the entire book was crafted in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, filled with all kinds of delicious and enchanting treats.

The film and stage adaptations of this book are indeed very good. They manage to capture some of the essence of the story. However, as is so often the case, the book itself remains unrivaled. There is something about the written word that allows the reader's imagination to run wild and experience the story in a truly unique way. The details, the nuances, and the emotions that are conveyed in the book simply cannot be replicated in any other medium.

I used to both like and not like this book.

Perhaps it's because this period of excessive childish imagination has come to an end.

Looking back, I can see that there were times when the book captured my heart with its vivid descriptions and engaging stories. It took me to a world full of wonder and magic.

However, there were also moments when I found it a bit too simplistic or uninteresting. Maybe my tastes were changing as I grew older.

Nevertheless, this book still holds a special place in my memories. It reminds me of a time when my imagination knew no bounds and I could get lost in the pages of a book for hours on end.

Even though I may not have the same connection to it as I once did, I will always cherish the experiences and emotions it brought me.

Re-read 2018

It is still every bit as good as when I read it for the first time when I was a little girl <3. Every time I read this, it leaves me with a smile on my face. It's truly a remarkable piece of literature that has stood the test of time.

Oh Matilda... you were my first book love <3. I can't count the times I have read this book. It's my absolute favorite children's book, and even now, as an adult, I love to reread it. The story of Matilda, with her extraordinary intelligence and courage, is simply captivating.

This is also the first book I read (and gifted) to my niece, who loved it just as much as I did :). It's wonderful to see that the magic of Matilda can be passed on to the next generation. It's a book that brings joy and inspiration to readers of all ages.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story. It's a classic that will continue to be cherished for years to come.

Well, well, well. If it isn't our collective villain origin story.

Many of Roald Dahl's books have had a profound impact on me for various reasons. Some of them served as the inspiration for a perfect stop-motion film by Wes Anderson, which added a unique visual charm to the stories. There's also an uncharacteristic and mild lifelong interest in World War II that some of his books touched upon. Additionally, I have an appreciation for the large kind men he often portrayed in his works.

But none of these reasons compare to this one.

I was, as I'm sure many of you were too, an incredible nerd in childhood. I was an indoors kid, a dork. In other words, a bookworm.

And this book was like a revelation. It was as if it was saying, "Hey. You know your favorite thing in the world? The hobby you like doing more than anything else (and it's not even close)? Well, not only is that thing cool, contrary to what you might have previously believed, but it will also make you magic. And because of it, you will be adopted by the best person on earth and get to eat chocolates along the way."

It was just so good.

In the past two months, I haven't been in the mood to read any book. Therefore, I decided to read a very simple and easy book so that my study doesn't become zero. I compared myself with the average reading level of my compatriots :)))

The story was beautiful, and I think expressing such a story requires courage. Because most children's and teenagers' books present a beautiful, kind, and benevolent image of parents, but this is not always the case. It is necessary for children to be familiar with the other side of the coin. If they don't have a good relationship with their parents, they shouldn't feel guilty because they love them. Without knowing that not all mothers and fathers are good, the right is not always with them, and sometimes they really behave wrongly.

We should face the reality and not always idealize things. This way, we can better understand the world and ourselves.

All the reading she had done had given her a unique view of life that they had never seen. It was as if she had opened a door to a world unknown to them. All the reading she had done had given her a view of life that they had never seen.

This book was truly heartwarming. It was a testament to Dahl's incredible talent as a storyteller. And it just proved that Dahl was (and always will be) one of the best storytellers ever. The way he writes, with his vivid descriptions and engaging characters, and how he draws you into the story, is simply amazing. It never fails to capture my imagination and keep me hooked from start to finish. This is my second book of his, but it definitely won't be my last.

Amazing book, that I think everybody should read, at least once. It has the power to touch your heart, make you laugh, and leave you with a sense of wonder. It is a literary gem that should not be missed. So, pick up a copy and let Dahl's magic transport you to a world of adventure and imagination.

**Title: Matilda**

**Author: Roald Dahl**

**Genre: Children**

**Publication year: 1988**

Review: It's rather interesting how I've been on a spree of revisiting books I've already read. This is in an attempt to determine if my perspective on them has altered over the intervening years. I've predominantly focused on horror as that has been my passion since I was 10 in 1975. Roald Dahl was initially my oldest son's favorite author. Despite later learning about his reputation for less than savory behavior, the book, independent of the author, is truly a remarkable one.

This particular book tugged at my heartstrings. Matilda is an exceptionally bright, literary, and mathematical prodigy who unfortunately has very neglectful parents. The headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, is equally unpleasant, but her actual teacher, Miss Honey, is almost saintly. Of course, there is some astute social commentary being subtly presented through the narrative regarding ineffective parenting, some truly terrible teachers, insufficient educational budgets, and the dedicated teachers who have to ingeniously fulfill their duties.

It's a heartbreaking story with an inspiring message. It's a book that is well worth reading, not just by children but also by adults. It serves as a reminder of the power of perseverance and the importance of finding kindred spirits in even the most unlikely of places.

I am very satisfied with reading this book and these days I will also watch its movie. I am extremely grateful to Mrs. Masoumeh Tokhli, who spends a lot of time with children, has more to do with them than I do, and knows their interests better. She recommended this good book to me.

Actually, in our home, reading books is not considered a useful activity! So when I am in a corner and reading a book, it seems that I am wasting my time. Immediately, my three-year-old daughter comes and says, "Dad, come and play with me," and her mother also says, "If you don't play with her now, it will be bad for her to read books later." But I say that if I also read books, maybe my daughter will be interested in reading books later. Or when I am busy reading a book, my wife can say to my daughter, "Don't bother Dad reading a book so that the importance of reading books is implanted in my daughter's mind!" Anyway, these are all my wishes and currently I can't read a book in front of my wife and daughter. So a while ago, when it was Roald Dahl's birthday and my wife sent me out to buy something, I gently took the book and took it with me. Then I parked the car in a secluded corner in the shade of the park and started reading it. Because this is also one of my creative ways to start reading books that I want to read but somehow I don't consider them a priority and it's not known when their turn will come. That is, suddenly picking up a book on the pretext of the author's birthday.

Sorry to bother you, but the introduction is not over yet. When I returned home, my wife said, "Why did it take so long to buy?" and I confessed that I had a corner where I was reading a book and I faced my wife with a smile. That night when I was going to sleep, it occurred to me that maybe because of some pictures that are on every two or three pages in the book, I can read the book to my three-year-old daughter. So a few nights before going to bed, I read the book to her and she also came and said, "Dad, let's read Matilda." But as I went a little further, I saw that in the middle of the story, I had to censor a place or basically change the story! I knew that a three-year-old child basically doesn't understand a lot of things, but when she saw the picture of the angry headmistress and asked, "Dad, who is this?" What answer did I have?

In short, I gave up reading Matilda to her and gently read the book myself and finished it today.

This review is actually all a memory.

If I want to give my opinion about the story in two words, I can say that Westerners educate their children to pursue "intelligence" instead of ethics, money, justice, religion, and in short, everything. And the instruction is only one thing: you have to stand on your own feet.

Book Reviewed on www.whisperingstories.com

As a child, I was an avid Roald Dahl enthusiast, spending countless hours engrossed in his books. At school, we were required to read his older children's works about his life, such as Boy and Going Solo. However, over the years, I realized that there were several of his books that I had never actually read, namely Danny the Champion of the World, The Witches, and Matilda.

This oversight didn't really cross my mind until recently when I saw Matilda on Sarah Cox's book show as one of the guests' "Bring Your Own Book" selections. She made it sound so captivating that I immediately ordered it and devoured it in a day. I found myself wondering why on earth I had waited so long to read it.

Matilda is a book for bookworms of all ages. It tells the story of a bookish child who adores all the classics. It is also a tale about nasty people and how, through her remarkable intelligence gained from reading, the five-and-a-half-year-old Matilda exacts her revenge.

The book is truly remarkable. It was a beautiful, enjoyable, and energetic read. I fell in love with the little girl and wished I could protect her from the cruel adults, including her own parents who seem to dislike their own child.

The copy I purchased was the 30th-anniversary edition. I chose it mainly because I have a penchant for hardback books and also because I was drawn to the cover and its color. Yes, I admit, I'm easily pleased.

The book features illustrations by Quentin Blake, who, I believe, illustrated all of Roald Dahl's works. His artwork has a unique charm that not only brings the story to life but also makes you laugh and form a connection with the characters.

In a way, I'm glad that I didn't read this book as a child because I was able to appreciate it as an adult. But at the same time, I can't help but think that I missed out on a truly wonderful book that would have made me laugh and furrow my brows in equal measure.

Overall, Matilda is a book that still holds up in today's society, even after all these years. It was a great pleasure to read, and this edition would make a fantastic gift as well.

This book was truly MAGNIFICENT.

As a child, I would have adored it, and even as an adult, I found the language to be so enchanting. The storyline was both heartwarming and gripping, and Matilda herself was such a strong and dynamic role model.

I will definitely be investing in more Roald Dahl books, as I thought this one was beautiful. The pictures complemented the text extremely well, and all the descriptions were so nice, making it such an enjoyable reading experience.

However, I did dock a star from this book. I felt that there was some antagonization of athletic and overweight women. Anyone who wasn't described as skinny or beautiful was depicted as a villain. For example, Trunchbull and her athletic body type were constantly portrayed as something gross and inhumane. Additionally, other bullies who were described as being fat were seen as sloppy and unlikable.

Moreover, I felt that Trunchbull herself became a truly horrible character. I understand that many of the situations in this book are hyperbolized, but the idea of her literally throwing kids around with no penalties, even in the presence of another adult, felt very abusive. Although Matilda and Lavender played pranks on her to get back at her, it still read as really severe and actually made me uncomfortable and pitiful for the children at certain points.

But for a kid's book, I'll take it with a grain of salt. I really, really wish I would have read this as a kid, and it's making me want to explore all the classic children's literature.
