It's a classic!

When I was a child, I was completely in love with it. The story, the characters, everything about it just captured my imagination.

As I've grown into an adult, my love for this classic has only deepened. It has withstood the test of time and continues to hold a special place in my heart.

Even now, whenever I think of it, a smile不自觉地creeps onto my face. It's a reminder of the simple joys of childhood and the power of great storytelling.

This classic is truly a gem that will be cherished for generations to come.

I can't wait to share it with my own children one day and introduce them to the wonderful world that it inhabits.

It's a part of my life that I will always hold dear and I'm so grateful to have discovered it all those years ago.

This was so strikingly different from what I had initially imagined it to be!

It is a compilation of Dahl's poems that retell fairy tales. I had naively assumed that I was about to receive a simple children's poem. Oh, how wrong I was!

Here, there are a plethora of dark themes being explored. Themes such as sexual harassment, adultery, sex, and even cannibalism. These are topics that children would surely not understand or be able to grapple with.

However, the illustration by Quentin Blake is as charming and lovely as always. It adds a certain allure to the collection. And surprisingly, I find myself enjoying this work more than I could have ever thought possible. It has opened my eyes to a different side of Dahl's creativity and has made me appreciate his ability to tackle complex and often controversial themes in a unique and engaging way.

Another truly fabulous and quirky book has been penned by Roald Dahl and brought to life with illustrations by Quentin Blake.

This remarkable book is filled with fifteen hysterically written, rhyming poems. Roald Dahl has truly stamped his unique style and humor within each and every poem, creating a lighthearted read that still manages to enable learning.

He summaries previous well-known tales such as "The Hare and the Tortoise" and "Hansel and Gretel", transforming them into perfectly rhyming, funny poems. Although some of the subject matters in the poems might be slightly advanced for primary school learning, there is a wonderful mix of short and longer poems, all accompanied by the visually complimentary illustrations of Quentin Blake.

Roald Dahl also makes use of places in London as locations for many of the poems, like the Ritz Hotel and Berkeley Square. This not only adds a sense of familiarity to the poems but also incorporates a modern time sphere.

This is a classic Roald Dahl mix of funny humor, clever language, excellent rhyming skills, and the use of a modern perspective to tell an old tale. Some of the poems would be suitable and useful in Key Stage Two classes, yet the majority of the poems carry an adult undertone. In my opinion, the best suited poem for Primary School classes in this book would be "The Hare and the Tortoise". The rhyming is extremely clever, it is suitable for the primary age range, teaches valuable lessons of greed, fairness, and loyalty, and could be used to compare the classic tale with the rhyming version by Roald Dahl.

I've had this particular thing since I was nine years old.

I was, am, and will most likely always remain the sort of horrid little boy who would sing songs like "Drinking sherry on the sly" rather than the more traditional and festive "Ding-dong merrily on high".

I'm well aware that I'm probably being biased and overly nostalgic, and perhaps I should just be ignored.

However, despite all that, I still have a deep fondness for this.

It's something that has stuck with me through the years, and even though it may not be the most appropriate or mainstream choice, it holds a special place in my heart.

Maybe it's because it reminds me of a simpler time, or maybe it's just because I have a unique sense of humor.

Either way, I'm not ready to let go of it just yet.

Definitely heed the warning on the front that these are not for children.

Most of the rhymes are just silly and lack real depth or meaning.

However, a couple of them are bordering on bawdy, which might not be suitable for all audiences.

Roald Dahl, known for his great imagination in children's literature, obviously had an ear for poetry as well.

But to be honest, I can't say that I really enjoyed these particular poems.

Maybe it's because they don't quite match my personal taste or because I was expecting something different from the great Roald Dahl.

Nevertheless, it's interesting to see another side of his creative talent through these poems.

Perhaps others will find more enjoyment in them than I did.

Overall, while they have their own charm, they didn't quite hit the mark for me.

I vividly remember having a copy of Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes when I was little. However, curiously enough, I've never actually read this particular one.

This edition is specifically targeted at older kids and adults. It has a unique charm that combines uproarious humor with a touch of naughtiness at times. The way the words are crafted makes it an absolute delight when read out loud. It has this magical quality that is guaranteed to at least raise a smile on anyone's face. My Mum is currently embarking on a rather ambitious task. She is going through all the numerous books in her house, books that are too many to count. Her plan is to rehome them, give them a new place to be loved and read.

As a result of her efforts, some of these books have found their way onto my shelves. The majority of them are kids books. These are the very books that I adored reading when I was younger or perhaps they belonged to my brothers, B and S.

It's quite interesting to see these familiar titles again. They bring back memories of our childhood, of the times when we would get lost in the pages of these wonderful stories. It's like a trip down memory lane every time I look at them. I'm glad that my Mum is sharing these books with me and I can't wait to see what other treasures she discovers during her book清理.

I had a particular preference for Revolting Rhymes. It truly stood out to me.

However, this other book also holds a certain charm. It contains poems that are based on our beloved childhood stories, but with an interesting twist.

The poems in this book offer a fresh perspective on the familiar tales we grew up with. They add a touch of creativity and playfulness, making them both engaging and entertaining.

While I still liked Revolting Rhymes better, I can't deny the appeal of this book as well. It has its own unique qualities that make it worth exploring and enjoying.

Whether it's the unexpected turns in the poems or the way they bring back memories of our childhood, this book has something special to offer.

Overall, it's a great addition to any collection of poetry or childhood literature.

I discovered this book in a local thrift store. It was in a rather shabby state, almost falling apart. Out of curiosity, I decided to flick through its pages to figure out what it was all about.

To my surprise, there were several "old-timey" jokes within its covers. Some of them, I'm quite certain, were not appropriate for a child's ears.

Nevertheless, reading through it was a quick and enjoyable experience. However, I don't think I would recommend this book to just anyone. It has its own charm and a certain nostalgia factor, but it might not appeal to everyone's taste.

Maybe it's more suitable for those who have a penchant for old-fashioned humor and don't mind a few slightly risqué jokes here and there. But for a more general audience, it might not be the best choice.

Overall, it was an interesting find, but one that comes with its own set of caveats.
