This was an interesting account of WWII through the eyes of a cat.

I found it quite engaging, yet I didn't have an overwhelming love for it.

If you are a parent, I would definitely suggest that this is more suitable for the "older" young adult who has a genuine interest in that particular time period.

The story had its moments of darkness and was rather graphic at times.

It delved into the harsh realities of war, which might not be entirely appropriate for younger readers.

However, for those who are curious about the historical events and can handle the more intense aspects, it could be a captivating read.

Overall, while it had its strengths, it also had some elements that might limit its appeal to a wider audience.

2021 52 Book Challenge 43) A character with a pet cat

I first came across this book during my school days. From the moment I started reading it, I was completely captivated. So much so that I ended up rereading it three or four times in a row. It was truly that engaging.

Now, eight years have passed since then. But when I picked up this book again recently, I found that my love for it had not diminished in the slightest. It still held the same charm and appeal that it did all those years ago.

This remarkable book delves deep into the themes of what home truly means, as well as love, hope, and courage. It tells the story of a cat who, during the Blitz, embarks on a journey to find her human. Along the way, she encounters various people, each with their own stories and experiences. Through the eyes of this cat, we are able to see the world in a whole new light and gain a deeper understanding of the human condition. It is an absolute gem of a book that I would highly recommend to anyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

As I have an affinity with cats and understand the special bond between animals and humans, this story was not just about that. It also provided a great insight into the lives during the 2nd World War. There were stories within a story, all beautifully tied together with a wonderful cat as the central character.

The book was both charming and insightful. It made me think more deeply about the everyday aspects of war, such as life, death, fear, and the battles for survival. Robert Westall writes in a simple yet loving and caring way. This is the second of his books that I have read, and it has left me eager to read more.

Overall, it was a truly charming and engaging read that I would highly recommend to others.

World War II from a cat's perspective.

I was so incredibly bored. It was my first year of teaching, and I was instructed to go through this with my below-level juniors.

The comment of the year, which was mumbled by a student under his breath, was "I wish this &^*%$# cat would die." And you know what? So did I.

The whole thing just seemed so pointless and uninteresting. I couldn't understand why we had to read about a war from a cat's point of view.

Maybe if it had been more engaging or had some real substance, it would have been different. But as it was, it was just a chore.

I found myself daydreaming during the readings, and I'm sure the students were too.

I hope that next year, we get to read something a little more exciting and relevant.

**Title: The Importance of Recycling**

Recycling is a crucial practice that has a significant impact on our environment and society.

It helps to conserve natural resources, reduce energy consumption, and minimize waste sent to landfills.

By recycling materials such as paper, plastic, metal, and glass, we can prevent the need to extract and process new raw materials, which often requires large amounts of energy and water.

Moreover, recycling can also create jobs and boost the economy.

Many recycling facilities employ workers to sort, process, and transport recycled materials.

In addition, the demand for recycled products is increasing, which provides opportunities for businesses to develop and market sustainable products.

To encourage recycling, it is essential to raise public awareness about its benefits and provide convenient recycling options.

This can include curbside recycling programs, recycling bins in public places, and educational campaigns.

Everyone has a role to play in protecting the environment, and recycling is one simple yet effective way to make a difference.

Let's all do our part and recycle more to create a cleaner, greener future for ourselves and generations to come.

In the midst of World War II, a stubborn and fearless black cat decides to embark on a journey to find its human who has been sent overseas to fight.

I really appreciate historical novels, especially in the field of literature for young people. I like to discover how authors deal with World War II, a historical event that is still considered very delicate today. Westall has intrigued me a lot with the reading key he has chosen because the story is told through the eyes of the feline.

The black cat sets off on its journey, meets many characters among civilians and soldiers, and simply observes their situations: the anxieties, the fears, and the terror that war brings. Westall not only tells the various experiences of this historical period but also deals with a phenomenon that features cats as protagonists, namely homing. It is a theory according to which cats can find their way home even from a distance of several kilometers.

I really liked the idea of the book and the reading key that Westall gave. I enjoyed following the journey of the black cat, which sometimes had an active role and other times a more passive role in the narration. And I found the situations of the people realistic and well-crafted. However, I did not find the reading very smooth because of the style which, in my opinion, is a bit descriptive and lacking in dialogues. But of course, this is a very subjective opinion.

Overall, I found it a pleasant read for young people that, with the right tones, tells the cruelty of war through the eyes of a cat that is looking for its human.

In the book Blitzcat by Robert Westall, the central theme is that home is where your loved ones are, and truly, there is no place like home.

\\tBlitzcat is set in England during the Blitz, which was the period from 1940 - 1941 when Germany attacked England through bombing. The story is narrated by Lord Gort, a cat who cannot speak but acts as a narrator. When Lord Gort's special person leaves to fight the Germans, the cat uses psi trailing, a unique sense that allows cats to track something from hundreds of miles away, to find her.

\\tOn her journey, Lord Gort meets many interesting people. There is a lonely disabled plane spotter who works with the Observer Corps, and many soldiers who see her and believe she will bring them good luck in battle. The cat's dangerous journey takes her all over England, and she even has to go directly through Germany's brutal attacks.

\\tI was impressed by how the book described Germany's relentless attacks on England, as seen in the description of "Stuka dive-bombers that had blasted their way through the newsreels from Spain to Poland, Holland, Belgium and France. Hitler's terror-bird that turned armies into fleeing rabble". This book made me realize more about the deadly nature of Hitler's armies and the terrible things they did to the places they attacked. I had read about what Hitler did to the Jews, but I didn't know they also did equally bad things to other places. While the Nazis were taking the Jews from their homes in Germany and surrounding areas to concentration camps to kill them, they were also bombing the rest of Europe.

\\tI thought this book was a very creative and engaging way to tell the stories of what happened during the Blitz. I would highly recommend it to any friend.

WW2 seen from the perspective of a black cat is an utterly unique and captivating concept.

It offers a fresh and wholesome read that truly engages the reader.

The idea of experiencing the events of World War II through the eyes of a black cat adds a touch of charm and mystery.

It allows us to view the war from a completely different angle, one that we might not have considered before.

The story likely weaves together the cat's experiences with the larger historical context, creating a rich and detailed narrative.

They have a cat and also World War II, and I don't? The Lord Gret is a black cat that follows its owner who has gone to war and brings good luck wherever it goes. Just as I read a lot in the introduction that when you put a cat in front of yourself, it has returned home, but that a cat senses its owner who may be anywhere and chases after him, it was the first time I heard. One interesting thing that I understood after reading this book was that cats are caregivers for their kittens, and this made me even more proud and special of these creatures. And another side note of the book was getting acquainted with the warplanes of that time. Overall, the book was ordinary but sweet.

Is this truly a kids' book??

At each installment, I found myself in tears.

I wonder if it's a case of an adult being more deeply affected and upset by the content, while a child might be better able to cope and perhaps experience the adventure at a less emotionally wrenching level.

Maybe not.

In any event, what an exploration it is.

It takes the reader on a journey through a diverse range of experiences during WWII, all based on true events.

The cat serves as a narrative device, much like Huck and Jim on the raft, being the vehicle that allows one to connect all these stories and look through all these doors.

It does not glorify or romanticize the war but rather captures, above all, the unifying feeling of living in the shadow, regardless of one's level of involvement or proximity to the action.

This book offers a unique and powerful perspective that both children and adults can benefit from exploring.

I absolutely loved it.

After coming across "Urn Burial" at the library where I was working in the 80's, I read every single book by Robert Westall that I could manage to find.

His writing had a unique charm and ability to draw me into his fictional worlds.

The stories were filled with rich characters and engaging plots that kept me on the edge of my seat.

Each book seemed to offer something new and exciting, and I couldn't get enough of them.

Robert Westall's works truly had a profound impact on me as a reader, and I will always cherish the memories of devouring his books during that time.

Even now, whenever I think back to those days in the library, I can't help but smile at the wonderful literary journey that I embarked on thanks to his amazing books.
