This rather magical cat serves as a fascinating vehicle to embark on a journey of exploring a significant portion of European history.

However, there is a rather large and somewhat disconcerting gap in the narrative. The transition from Lisbon to the return to England seems rather abrupt. How exactly did the cat manage to make that journey? I must admit that I was not entirely convinced by the concept of the cat following one companion across Europe while simultaneously yearning and pining for her original owner.

Perhaps I am being overly critical considering that this book is intended to be read by children. It is, after all, designed as a furry and engaging introduction to the Blitz and other rather nasty aspects of World War II. Nevertheless, these narrative gaps and somewhat inconsistent character motivations do raise a few questions that might have been addressed more effectively.

I read this book when I was in 6th grade, and it truly ignited my passion for reading!

At that time, I was just an ordinary student with no particular interest in books. However, when I picked up this book, something magical happened.

The story within its pages was so captivating that I couldn't put it down. It took me on a journey to different worlds, introduced me to fascinating characters, and made me experience a wide range of emotions.

Since then, I have become an avid reader. I devour books of all kinds, from adventure and mystery to science fiction and romance. Reading has become an essential part of my life, enriching my mind and broadening my horizons.

I am forever grateful to that book for awakening my love for reading and opening up a whole new world of possibilities for me.

The cat started to purr in a broken way, so faintly that he could scarcely hear her.

She settled down on the sandbags beside his elbow and commenced to wash herself.

Somehow, she managed to make the abandoned post feel as if it was fully occupied by a proper garrison.

It was like home.

The afternoon sun appeared to be warmer.

The war in France didn't seem quite so desperate.

The blood seemed to flow in his veins for the very first time in a fortnight.

This is a children's novel set during World War II.

It tells the adventures of a cat named Lord Gort, after a military leader.

She searches for her master and travels far and wide, even in a bomber over Germany.

I have a great affection for this book and shed tears once again as I re-read it for the countless time.

It is a favorite book that I will definitely re-read in the future.

It didn't meet my expectations. I was waiting for the cat to tell a story, speak, and show the war, humans, and the world from its perspective to the reader, but this didn't happen.

The author had also brought up the whole issue with a grain of salt and had overcome his weakness in storytelling by doing so and had written from the ground and time. I had read an Iranian sample that was much better and more successful than this book.

However, this book still has some redeeming qualities. The descriptions of the cat's daily life are quite vivid, and it gives the reader a sense of the cat's world. The author also tries to explore some deeper themes such as the relationship between humans and animals, and the meaning of life. Although these themes are not developed as fully as they could be, they still add some depth to the story.

Overall, while this book didn't meet my expectations, it's not a complete failure. It has some good points, but it also has some areas that need improvement. If you're a fan of cat stories or are interested in exploring the relationship between humans and animals, you might still find this book worth reading.
