What would you do if you were given a precious chance to spend one more day with someone you deeply loved and lost? Would you muster up the courage to ask for forgiveness for the things left unsaid or the mistakes made? Or would you simply soak in every moment, trying to relive the memories and express all the emotions that had been bottled up inside?
Charley "Chick" Benetto is a man who has hit rock bottom. A failed athlete, completely suicidal, and burdened with a mountain of regrets, he seems to have lost all hope. But after yet another attempt to end his life, something miraculous happens. He finds himself back in his childhood home, and there, waiting for him, is his mother who passed away a few years ago.
This book is a powerful testament to the purity and unwavering nature of a mother's love. It reminds us that no matter how old we grow or how far we stray from our mothers, their love remains absolute and unconditional. As I read this story, I couldn't hold back my tears. Mitch Albom has a way of touching the deepest parts of our hearts with his words. He is slowly but surely becoming one of my favorite authors.
So here's to all the mothers out there. Thank you for your boundless love and the countless sacrifices you make for us, your children. Your love is a guiding light that shines through even the darkest of times.
A book that should be read in one's twenties and forties.
And We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, until when he reaches full strength and reaches forty years, he says, "My Lord, grant me that I may be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and that I may do good which pleases You, and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have turned to You repentant, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."
And We have not commanded man to be kind to his parents in vain. His mother carried him with pain and gave birth to him with pain, and the pregnancy and breastfeeding lasted for thirty months until the child reached the age of growth and the man reached forty years. He then said, "O Lord of mine, teach me to be grateful for Your blessings that You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and make me successful in performing good deeds that You are pleased with, and make my children righteous. I have returned to Your door and have become submissive to Your command." (15) (Al-Ahqaf)
Footnote: If you haven't watched the movie "Malena" yet, watch it.
The battle on the mountain is against human nature. When going down, you must be as careful as when going up!
-From the text of the book-
Although the theme of the story has some repetitions (such as a person understanding his close ones in a state of spiritual confusion or reaching certain truths...), but the expression of this theme in the book "Another Day" is different... The scattered memories of the main character of the story titled "The Moments When..." While taking us away from the current flow of time, it helps us get closer to the truths of the story and the roots of the formation of events... And these once-in-a-lifetime insights, in my opinion, have made the simple narrative style of the text more attractive...
The most influential sentences in this book were the parts that paid attention to the child's perception of the personalities of his parents (especially his mother)... These sentences not only made me think about the hobbies and inner personalities of my father and mother, but also challenged me to think about how much we are aware of our child's perception of the details of our personalities and behaviors if God gives us a child?!
