First and foremost, I am not a mother, and I firmly believe that being a parent is likely one of the most arduous yet highly rewarding roles in life. Having said that, it simply has never been my path. This is a narrative that vividly showcases how challenging the role can be for some parents, not solely mothers, while for others, it seems to come effortlessly. In this book, I did not develop a warm feeling towards Paige, and to be honest, I found Nicholas a bit more empathetic, but not by a significant margin. I am of the opinion that both main characters possessed traits that readers will perceive as selfish and frustratingly obstinate. This ultimately leaves the readers incapable of sympathizing with them.

Nevertheless, this is a good read. It is not an uncomplicated read where you will experience a minimal amount of emotions. (Then again, if you are seeking an easy, semi-emotional read, you probably would not be selecting a Jodi Picoult book.) Instead, you will be drawn into the story and feel a sense of irritation towards the main characters.

The complex relationships and the moral dilemmas presented in the book make it a thought-provoking and engaging read. Despite the lack of complete sympathy for the main characters, their flaws and struggles add depth to the story and make it a memorable one.

Overall, this book offers a unique perspective on the challenges and rewards of parenthood and is well worth the read for those who enjoy exploring complex human emotions and relationships.

Overall, this book was truly excellent.

While I was engrossed in reading it, there were indeed moments when I got bored and felt that some parts seemed to drag on. However, once I reached the end of the book, I was able to look back and appreciate the earlier sections. It all made perfect sense why Jodi had to include so many intricate details.

I could really relate to Paige's character as I myself am a recent parent and a newlywed. The ending of the book was incredibly powerful. As a parent, I am all too familiar with the fears that come with having a sick child. I thought that the emotions of Paige and Nicolas were portrayed so realistically in the book. At times, I felt a deep sense of sympathy for Paige, and at other times, for Nicolas.

I absolutely loved how everything came together beautifully at the end. I was overjoyed that Nicolas was finally able to see Paige's true and unwavering love for her child. After reading this book, it has made me want to hold my baby and husband just a little bit tighter and be truly grateful that I have both of them in my life.

It's amazing how a good book can have such a profound impact on our emotions and perspectives. This is definitely a book that I would highly recommend to others.

Read many years ago,

I was deeply immersed in the world of books. It was a time when the written word held a special allure for me. I would lose myself in the pages of various novels, biographies, and works of non-fiction. Each book was like a new adventure, taking me to different places and introducing me to a plethora of characters and ideas.

The act of reading was not just a pastime but a means of expanding my knowledge and imagination. It allowed me to see the world from different perspectives and understand the experiences of others. Through reading, I gained insights into different cultures, historical events, and the human condition.

Many years have passed since then, but my love for reading has remained constant. It continues to be a source of inspiration and relaxation for me. I still enjoy curling up with a good book and getting lost in its pages. Reading has truly been a lifelong journey that has enriched my life in countless ways.

This book was most definitely not awesome!

I disliked each of the characters. They each had no redeeming qualities. And yet, I could not put it down. It's one of those books that you hate reading, but that you must see through to the end.

In short, this is a story about a woman named Paige. She was abandoned by her mother at the age of 5. When Paige turns 18, she has an abortion and runs away from home. Her new home becomes Boston. In just a few short days of living there, Paige meets Nicholas, an up and coming cardiothorasic surgeon. The two fall in love and marry, against Nicholas's parents' wishes.

Years later, Paige becomes pregnant. When her baby turns three months old, she runs away again! This time, in search of her mother. The story goes on. Paige finds her mother, lives with her for several months and then decides she ought to go back to her life in Boston. The ending is very ambiguous. We are left to never know if Paige and Nicholas reconcile or not. I HATE endings like that and I HATE women like Paige, who are never really happy in their lives. A terrible book!

In typical Picoult style, here’s another controversial topic.

This book delves deep into the complex themes of motherhood and absence.

It presents a thought-provoking exploration of the profound impact that these elements can have on the lives of individuals and families.

The story unfolds in a way that keeps the reader engaged from the very beginning.

As I started reading this book, I found it extremely difficult to put down.

The characters are vividly drawn, and their emotions and experiences are so real that it's easy to become invested in their stories.

The author's writing style is engaging and accessible, making it a pleasure to read.

Overall, this is a must-read book for anyone interested in exploring the themes of motherhood and absence in a meaningful and thought-provoking way.

This is a truly good book.

It has managed to engage the reader from start to finish with its interesting plot and well-developed characters.

However, as I reached the end, I couldn't help but feel that there was another chapter that remained unwritten.

Perhaps this was the author's intention all along.

Maybe leaving that extra chapter unwritten was a way to make the reader think and imagine what could have happened next.

It gives the story an air of mystery and leaves room for the reader's own interpretation.

Despite this feeling, the book is still a great read and I would highly recommend it to others.

It has a certain charm that keeps you hooked until the very end.

Even though there may be an unwritten chapter, it doesn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

It makes you appreciate the author's creativity and the unique way in which they have told the story.

Overall, it's a book that will stay with you long after you've finished reading it.

This book really irritated the heck out of me.

It tells the story of a mother who runs away from her child simply because she doesn't believe she'll be a good mother. What on earth is that about? Well, to begin with, the most basic thing is not to run away from your own kid. The main character really annoyed me with the excessive amount of self-pity she showed. How could she miss her child's most crucial first year? She knew exactly how it felt because her own mother had done the same thing to her, yet she still chose to do it to her own child. It's just so lame.

And let's not forget about the husband. He was a self-righteous prick as well. Overall, I would highly recommend that you don't waste your precious time on this book. It's just a disappointment from start to finish.

This book really grew on me the more I delved into it.

One of the reading challenges I set for myself this year was to read three books by one of my favorite authors. The first two books I read by Jodi Picoult had me questioning my decision to list her as one of my favorites. And this particular one took me some time to get fully engaged with, mainly because the viewpoints of the different narrators seemed rather similar.

Paige's own mother abandoned her when she was just five years old. When she runs away from home at 18 and relocates to Boston, she meets Nicholas within days of her arrival. There is something about Paige that completely charms Nicholas, and he asks her to marry him after just four dates. They come from vastly different worlds, but that's one of the aspects Nicholas adores about Paige... until he begins to feel that those differences are simply too great as he endeavors to climb the social ladder in the hospital scene.

When Paige becomes pregnant after eight years of marriage, she is filled with terror - she has no idea what it means to be a mother because she can't recall her own.

As I continued reading, I found myself becoming more and more invested in the story and the characters. The author's ability to create complex and relatable characters is truly remarkable. Despite my initial reservations, this book ended up being a captivating read that I would highly recommend to others.

I usually have a great passion for reading Jodi Picoult's books. Harvesting the Heart was her second literary work. The characters in this book were just okay. To be honest, I didn't have a liking for either of them. There was a rich boy and a poor girl, a doctor versus a young and uneducated girl. It was at best a summer read. It didn't really capture my heart and hold my attention throughout. The story seemed a bit predictable and the character development could have been more in-depth. However, it still had some redeeming qualities. The writing style was流畅 and easy to follow. But overall, it wasn't one of my favorite books by Jodi Picoult.

The different edition, unfortunately, can't be found here.

The cover of this particular copy is the same as that of the audio book.

I wonder how fast I would have finished reading this if I hadn't been confined to my sick bed.

It gives the impression that the story is rather scattered. There are so many themes that are briefly touched upon within its pages.

The ending, on the other hand, appears to be optimistic. However, it feels as if it was added almost as a last-minute afterthought.

It's as if the author suddenly remembered to wrap things up in a somewhat positive light, but without much depth or real consideration.

Overall, the reading experience has been a bit of a mixed bag.

While there are interesting aspects and themes, the lack of a more cohesive structure and a more developed ending leave something to be desired.

I'm truly uncertain whether I had a penchant for this book or loathed it with a passion! It undeniably had me flipping through the pages with great haste, yet I couldn't bring myself to like a single one of the characters.

Paige, at the tender age of eighteen, found herself pregnant and opted for an abortion. Why? She was concerned about upsetting her father and had plans to attend college. However, I firmly believe that her father would have preferred her to stay, regardless of her pregnancy status, rather than flee. Moreover, she didn't even end up going to college anyway.

When Paige gave birth to Max, she fretted incessantly that she couldn't be a good mother, given that her own mother had abandoned her at the age of five. But I think all mothers experience self-doubt, especially when it comes to their first child. Nevertheless, you somehow manage to muddle through. You most certainly don't abandon your three-month-old and set off in search of your own mother.

Nicholas was so completely engrossed in his career that he gave no thought whatsoever to Paige.

Nicholas's parents were truly abhorrent individuals, although they did have a change of heart in the end. However, the sudden and total transformation in their attitude seemed rather peculiar.

May left her five-year-old daughter behind when she deserted her husband for no justifiable reason.

Paige's father appeared to be extremely passive and allowed everyone to walk all over him. Oh, and he left Ireland when he was five. I would think that by now, he would have lost his accent.

Alright, I'll put an end to my ranting for now.
