You have to have some flexibility with reality to get through this one.

However, if you do manage to be flexible, you might be pleasantly surprised.

The story combines new physics terms and concepts in a rather unique way.

It spreads these through a ridiculous drunken drug-fueled story line.

This combination creates an interesting and somewhat mind-bending experience for the reader.

As you follow the narrative, you'll find yourself in a world where the boundaries of reality are blurred.

The new physics terms add an element of intellectual challenge, while the crazy story line keeps you entertained.

It's a strange but captivating mix that might just make you look at both physics and storytelling in a whole new light.

So, if you're willing to take a leap of faith and embrace the absurdity, give this story a try.

You might be surprised at what you discover.

Adventure

This adventure is truly something that could make an amazing movie one day. However, given the vast amount of content, it might require several parts or volumes to fully cover. It all depends on various things and stuff. If you're in your 20s and have had some exposure to a bohemian lifestyle, it's a very exciting read. Moreover, it helps if your girlfriend recommends it to you. Maybe she read it after her older brother recommended it to her. And if she's learned from her older brothers' mistakes to avoid them herself, yet still finds them romantic enough to share with her current partner, who she knows will appreciate it too. As you read, you can picture yourself in these situations and relate, especially if you have a passion for learning about physics, philosophy, and drug experimentation. You might even take different courses of action while still understanding the protagonist's choices. If you want to experience life through the stories of someone unafraid to challenge society and rebel against authority, and who is smart enough to understand risk but bold enough to take it anyway, you'll love this adventure. Some people have the feeling that they will survive despite obstacles, odds, and detractors, and indeed they do, in part because of that attitude. We all have a little bit of this spirit within us.

What a raucous ride!

It was an experience that can only be described as ridiculously brilliant and brilliantly ridiculous. From the moment it began, the excitement was palpable. The wild twists and turns, the unexpected drops and climbs, all combined to create a thrilling adventure like no other.

Every moment was filled with heart-pounding anticipation and hair-raising excitement. The colors, the sounds, the energy - it was all a sensory overload that left me breathless and begging for more. It was a ride that defied description, a ride that had to be experienced to be truly understood. And I will never forget it.

Paradossale, particolare, concettuale, a tratti lento e un po' vanitoso.

It is a rather paradoxical and particular thing, full of concepts. At times, it moves slowly and has a bit of a vain quality.

However, despite these characteristics, it is still somehow pleasant.

Perhaps it is the very combination of these seemingly contradictory elements that gives it its unique charm.

The slowness can allow for a deeper exploration and appreciation of its concepts, while the vanity might add a touch of self-assurance and confidence.

Overall, it is a complex and interesting entity that manages to be both intellectually stimulating and enjoyable.

It challenges our thinking and makes us look at things from different perspectives, all while providing a certain amount of pleasure.

Whether we fully understand its paradoxes or not, we can still find something to like about it.

It is a reminder that not everything has to be straightforward and simple to be good.

Sometimes, the most interesting and engaging things are those that are a bit more complicated and have a touch of vanity.

So, we should embrace these paradoxical and particular things and enjoy the ride they take us on.

Hilarious

Laughter is the best medicine, and when it comes to hilarious moments, they can brighten up our day and make us forget about all our troubles. Hilarious events can range from a funny joke told by a friend to a comical situation that occurs in our daily lives.

One of the funniest things I've ever witnessed was at a comedy club. The comedian on stage had the entire audience in stitches with his witty remarks and hilarious stories. His timing was perfect, and every punchline landed with great effect.

Another hilarious experience I had was when my dog got stuck in a box. He was trying to get to a treat that was inside, and in the process, he managed to get his head and front paws stuck. He looked so ridiculous, and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Hilarious moments like these are what make life worth living. They bring joy and happiness into our lives and remind us not to take things too seriously. So the next time you find yourself in a hilarious situation, embrace it and enjoy the moment.

I've read this book multiple times over the years.

Each and every time it's an extremely enjoyable read. The author has managed to create a world that is both unique and engaging.

The characters are truly hilarious. Their antics and personalities bring the story to life in the most wonderful way. The whole absurd premise of the book is absolutely captivating. It makes you question what is real and what is not.

Trying to describe the plot of the book is almost an impossible task. There are so many twists and turns that it's hard to keep up. But reading it for yourself is certainly a worthwhile endeavor.

The characters alone are worth the price of the book. They are so well-developed and interesting that you can't help but fall in love with them. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves a good laugh and an engaging story.

In a nutshell, I had the wrong expectations.

This book was recommended to me because it touches on String Theory. Somehow, I naively expected to gain a more in-depth understanding of the subject than I actually did. Instead, what I got was a wild and crazy story about drug running in Central America in the early 1980s. It was completely surreal, almost like something out of the writings of Hunter S. Thompson, and seemed rather harebrained.

Admittedly, the book is sometimes hilariously funny. I especially liked the author's foreword. In fact, I never thought I'd like an introduction of a book better than the book itself, but now it's happened. Go figure! However, as the story progresses, the events and the behavior of the characters become simply cringeworthy. By about the half-way point, I just couldn't take it anymore and stopped reading line by line. Instead, I opted to scan through the rest of the book, hoping to find some redeeming qualities. But overall, it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

Cosmix Banditos by Allan C. Weisbecker ; Richard Matas (Translator). 304 pages - Gallimard – 26 May 1999

The author, like me, names his chapters. Which is rather rare and very fitting, I must say.
I can't resist sharing with you from the start the introductory quote, which is mischievous as can be!
"God does not play dice with the Universe." Albert Einstein
"Not only does God play dice with the Universe, but he also throws them where they cannot be seen." Stephen Hawking

"High Pockets" (the dog) gradually has the size of its treats reduced, without showing any signs that it understands. Its owner goes to get it some milk (don't ask me why it starts like this! It's hard to start, isn't it?). Ah, I see why it starts like this. To make us feel sorry, "I have become a very poor man and I will no longer be able to feed my dog except with scraps and caresses." Against bad luck, good heart, the master and his dog will sweeten the pill by listening to the radio... Even though they only pick up one station (It was 1999). "Sometimes, I turn off the sound and we listen to nothing at all."

"Legs is a small boa constrictor that has taken up residence under the hut." And other puzzling facts like the boa's love for firearms... Between the dog and the serpent, the narrator is surrounded by animals more than by his fellow humans.

The hero sleeps with his dog AND his serpent. That's quite original. The book starts just with animals... Then the first humans arrive, "José" who always brings the good drinks and the good people. And Tina too. "To be honest, I think Tina is a great slut." I like it when the book speaks to us "without a filter" like that, a punch line like that, even I would hesitate to write it.
"Obviously, she was about to sexually terrorize the populations of any country where her parents would bring her to hang around."
"Then I put down the book, smoked a joint, helped myself to a few swigs of homemade rum, and I reread it for myself." Once again, I love being spoken to so crudely. It's Rock & Roll baby! Personally, my health prohibits me from having even one beer and don't even mention the joint. But I like to travel through characters who can.
"High Pockets and I also have serious problems with the law. We are currently being pursued by all the drug enforcement agencies in the Western world (...)" "José watches over us, financing our retirement, as he should, because we are old associated friends."
"The universe is not only stranger than we think, it is also stranger than we can think." (Werner Heisenberg)
"I see myself snorting an enormous line of coke and shouting: - Perfect, we will thus know exactly where we will sink." Drugs, alcohol, serpent, Rock & Roll and also... Boat! "the Don Juan" A real Black Pearl at its level. "A huge joint stuck to the lips and the bottom of the face covered with a fine film of Peruvian dope."
"Then Robert took a hand grenade out of the pocket of his jacket and hooked the spoon ring on the major. - Give me the coke, or I'll blow myself up, he warned." (You see that drugs are bad!)
I, who have rather difficult attention to capture, was attracted by Allan's story. I also really like the "drugged talk" which resembles the "children's talk" (the guys are seriously at that level in rhetoric). It always creates a rather funny disconnect!
"- Lord, I feel sick, he said. It's like this whole fucking thing is swaying all over the place." He hadn't realized that we were sailing.
I preferred the beginning with the serpent, the dog, the lost toxic friends and the slut. But I'm not going to tell you how it all works out because I want you to have the surprise when reading.
One of the few criticisms that can be made of the story is that it is a bit disjointed. There are some longueurs... But I'm going to stick to my initial optimistic note, because I'm quite tough in grading as you may know (because I read a lot) and I think its flaws are not serious enough to deprive it of a 5/5 because the first passages really made me vibrate. In addition, it's an old book (1999) so that scores points, because it's more difficult to find a good old book than a good recent book.
I'll leave you here my Phoenix of the day; kisses! And never start drugs, it's SO easy to start and SO difficult to stop.
Phoenix

I bought and read this book when it was first published in 1986, and I absolutely loved it!!

In 1988, I got married and told my wife that she had to read this wonderful book. However, I couldn't find my copy. Then, about 2 months later, I happened to see a copy for sale at TG&Y (do you remember that store?). Anyway, it was on the bargain rack for just a dollar! Of course, I bought it and reread it. After that, my wife read it too, and she loved it as well. We then put it away.

A few years later, I decided I wanted to read it again, but once again, I couldn't find it. My wife suggested that she would just buy another copy on this new website called Ebay. But after checking, we discovered that the cheapest copy we could find was going for over $100! Needless to say, we tore the house apart in search of it.

In about a week or so, we were able to find both copies. We reread them and then promptly sold both on Ebay for a little over $100 each! Yeah, I really love this book!! Every time I read it, I laugh until tears are rolling down my cheeks. (Now I have it on Kindle.)

I read this thirty years ago when I was in high school.

At that time, I thought it was brilliant.

It's interesting to note that some might assume that youth automatically comes with a particularly sharp acuity of perception.

However, in my case, it was truly remarkable how this piece had such a profound impact on me even back then.

Perhaps it was because of the fresh and open mind that I had as a high school student.

I was able to soak in the ideas and emotions presented in the text without the jadedness or preconceived notions that might come with age.

The experience of reading this thirty years ago still lingers in my memory, a testament to its enduring quality.

It serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful moments of perception and understanding can occur during our youthful years.
