A fun look back to the 40s reveals a world of humor that has both endured and evolved.

Some of the jokes from that era haven't aged that well. They may rely on cultural references or social norms that are no longer relevant in 2018.

However, there are also jokes from the 40s that are still being used today. These timeless gems have managed to transcend the decades and continue to bring laughter to people of all generations.

Perhaps it's the simplicity of the jokes or the universality of the human experiences they touch upon that makes them so enduring.

Looking back at the jokes of the 40s can be a fascinating exercise in understanding how humor has changed over time and how certain jokes have managed to stand the test of time.

It also serves as a reminder that laughter is a universal language that can bring people together, regardless of when they were born.

So, the next time you hear a joke that makes you laugh, take a moment to think about where it might have come from and how it has managed to make its way into the present day.

You might be surprised to discover that some of the funniest jokes have been around for a lot longer than you think.

This is such an incredibly special collection.

I truly love that Archie Comics has made these older stories increasingly accessible to fans.

As a lifelong Archie fan, it's an almost surreal experience to witness these beloved characters as they first emerged 80 years ago.

They have changed in many ways and yet remained so little changed in some aspects.

This primitive chipmunk-cheeked Archie is called "Chick" (possibly referenced decades later in the nickname of Betty's older brother) for at least one story, but it seems hardly anyone bothers to call him anything other than Archie.

He's girl-crazy right from the very beginning, performing balancing stunts to impress his new neighbor Betty, who has sausage curls instead of her iconic ponytail.

Jughead, in comparison, had changed very little; he already sports the "S" sweater, jagged hat, and sardonic squinty-eyed visage.

The stories are outrageously over-the-top, but in the most enjoyable and charming way conceivable.

The writing is liberally peppered with '40s slang that may significantly date the stories, but also transforms them into wonderful little snippets of another era.

The artwork (mainly by Bob Montana and Bill Vigoda) is not as sleek and stylish as in later decades, but what it lacks in polish it more than makes up for in vitality.

And I find that the rougher-looking art actually harmonizes extremely well with the edgier humor.

And I would be remiss if I didn't mention Rex W. Lindsey's fantastic cover art for this series!

These classic comics are an absolute treat for any dedicated Archie fan!

You really have to hand it to the people at the company that was once MLJ Comics.

During the Golden Age super hero boom, when every comic book publisher was striving to create more Supermen and Batmen, someone there had a brilliant idea and said, "Let's do something different."

The concept of teenagers getting into trouble might not initially seem like it could compete with super powers and colorful costumes, but surprisingly, it did and continues to do so.

Collected here are some genuine comedy gems from that era. Although there are many dated references, the interactions among these characters are truly timeless.

Love and friendship are the hallmarks of these interactions. Even between rivals like Betty and Veronica or Archie and Reggie, and even behind Jughead's facade of indifference, there is a depth of emotion and connection.

These stories have the remarkable ability to make the ordinary seem extraordinary, captivating readers and bringing a smile to their faces.

Nothing but respect to Bob Montana, the creator of the beloved Archie Comics. However, it's rather astonishing when you think about it. Betty and Veronica, two beautiful and intelligent girls, fell in love with Archie Andrews. Archie, with his average looks and sometimes bumbling ways. But perhaps that's the charm of it all. Maybe there's something about Archie's kind heart, his loyalty, and his ability to always find himself in the middle of crazy adventures that吸引了 Betty and Veronica. Or perhaps it's the fact that he represents the all-American boy next door, someone they can both relate to and dream about being with. Whatever the reason, the love triangle between Archie, Betty, and Veronica has been a staple of the Archie Comics for decades and continues to capture the hearts of readers young and old.

The Archie Americana series is truly a remarkable one for delving into the evolution of the Archie series throughout the decades.

It serves as a captivating window through which we can observe American pop culture in all its diverse manifestations across the years.

This particular volume focuses on the stories from the 40s.

Intriguingly, many of the tales presented here are origin stories.

As a result, readers have the opportunity to witness the first introductions of numerous Archie characters.

The writing in this collection has its ups and downs.

Since the comedy style is somewhat outdated, it may not always land with modern audiences.

However, it is still fascinating to see how the writing has transformed over the decades, reflecting the changing tastes and sensibilities of American society.

Overall, the Archie Americana series offers a valuable and engaging exploration of both the Archie universe and the broader context of American pop culture.

This is fine.

I like Archie, but in my opinion, the really old stuff wasn't nearly as good as the later stuff.

The earlier works of Archie might have had their charm, but they lacked the polish and sophistication that came with time.

The later stuff, on the other hand, seemed to have a better understanding of the characters and their relationships.

The storylines were more engaging, and the art style had evolved to a more modern and appealing look.

Maybe it's because the creators had more experience and were able to refine their craft over the years.

Whatever the reason, I find myself drawn more to the later Archie comics than the really old ones.

They just seem to have more to offer in terms of entertainment and quality.

To see the original drawings of Archie and gang and see the evolution of them is so....COOOL!

It's truly fascinating to witness the initial sketches and designs that gave birth to these beloved characters. The original drawings hold a certain charm and authenticity that can't be replicated. As we observe the evolution, we can see how the artists' ideas and concepts developed over time. The characters have changed and grown, yet still retained their essential qualities. It's like taking a journey through the history of their creation. Each stage of their evolution adds another layer of depth and complexity to their personalities. It's not just about looking at the pictures; it's about understanding the thought process and creativity that went into bringing them to life. So, if you ever get the chance to see the original drawings of Archie and gang and their evolution, don't miss it. It's an experience that will leave you in awe.

My ironic love of the Archie franchise is gradually transforming into a genuine affection.

These delightfully old-fashioned Forties strips truly offer a fascinating glimpse into the past.

It's true that they are often disposable and at times rather stupid.

However, that very aspect is what makes them so charming, isn't it?

Throughout the Forties, we witness Archie's evolution from a stereotypical "hayseed" like Lil' Abner to the ultimate All-American Boy.

This transformation is not only interesting but also quite endearing.

The simplicity and naivety of these strips have a certain appeal that draws you in and makes you appreciate a bygone era.

Despite their flaws, they have a unique charm that keeps you coming back for more.

It's as if they transport you to a time when life was simpler and more carefree.

And in that sense, they are a valuable piece of cultural history.

Today I made an interesting discovery. I learned that Big Moose had a girlfriend before Midge.

This revelation added a new layer of complexity to the story. I couldn't help but wonder about the nature of their relationship. What was she like? How did they meet?

Maybe she was a significant part of Big Moose's life at that time. Perhaps their relationship had a profound impact on him, shaping who he was before he met Midge.

I started to imagine the possible scenarios and interactions between Big Moose and his previous girlfriend. It made me realize that everyone has a past, and sometimes those past relationships can have a lasting influence.

This newfound knowledge made me look at Big Moose and Midge's relationship from a different perspective. It made me more curious about their story and how it all unfolded.

I'm excited to see if there are any more details or revelations about Big Moose's past that will come to light in the future.
