Started out slow " love the actual fire jumpers. The fact that Julia was caught between two loves, but stayed faithful to her husband showed what a an amazing woman she was. The stories in Africa were scary yet kept you from putting the book down even for a minute. Loved the ending.

Mooi boek, erg van genoten. De personages worden goed uitgewerkt. Heel af en toe een wat langere beschrijving die wat ingekort had mogen worden. 4.5*

I liked this book at first. I was surprised that it was not all about smoke jumping. I thought the whold thing kind of trailed off to a muddled conclusion. Still, not bad, just not what I had hoped.

From the title and the beginning of this book, you think that it's all about the people who parachute into and fight wild fires. But, it's not.
That is only where they start, telling about those that fight fires, but it introduces us to the main characters and their persona.
Then, predictally, relationships and people change.
Through out the book, different moral, and internatioal, problems are addressed, but not in a preaching manner, that I have seen in others novels.
It's above medium in size, 432 pages, but it was a very easy read (even for this slow reader).
I do recommend it!
