The book is slower than Sexus and definitely draws on a little in the middle. However, the final 4 Chapters are some of the best writing Miller has done.
In Plexus Miller has just started to embark on his new life and things slowly decay as the novel goes on. With this decay, the book becomes more interesting as the characters become more desperate. However, Miller never loses his vitality.

Overall I would recommend the book to Henry Miller fans but someone would have to be a committed Miller reader to fully appreciate it, unlike Sexus which can be read as a one-off.

This is just not my kind of book perhaps because I expected more in the second book of the series perhaps because there is just so much introspective you can take.

A Mona mente tanto...

The most sincere and vulnerable Miller piece I’ve read to date. And nothing short of brilliant. To write as you think- what a great gift to your readers! This book is a great source of inspiration for me. So many thoughts and experiences that are intimately familiar to me, and even more such ones that feel completely alien but extremely interesting to read.

Yet an fascinating insight into Henry Miller's wondrous life, interrupted only by crazy and absurd dream scenarios that unconditionally show his genius and tell joy. Fun, subtle and interesting story filled with life facts:

"I don't care at all, even if she is the worst bitch in the whole world... She's the one I want... and no one else."

I know about that

* описания фактических событий, описывающие жизнь лирического героя в любовном треугольнике с женой и её возлюбленной, сумасшедшей художденицей;
* размышления о стезе современного писателя (и вообще творческого человека), с постоянными сравнением с прошлым мировым опытом, с биографиями таких людей, как Ван Гог;
* оды искусству, заставляющие самому проникутся уважением к описываемым предметам;
* меткие и запоминающиеся портреты сотен людей, знакомых и случайно встретившихся Миллеру;
* описание жизни героя, которому уже 36 лет, он безработный и живёт на содержании жены, родители и часть друзей считают его неудачником, другая часть друзей — забавным чудаком, а жена — гениальным писателем, несмотря на то, что он никогда не публиковался и свою книгу пишет в голове "несмываемыми" чернилами.

I really can enjoy Miller but this book became a bit of chore for me.

The plot is minimal, Henry (Val) is an aspiring writer who is experiencing the shady side of life and marriage (second). He relives and remembers characters from the past and present to generate 'writing'. All very interesting and literary chewing gum - but what's the point? Unlike his earlier novels there aren't really any standout scenes for me. At the end Miller gets really quite philosophical.

Vicariously the reader appears to be suffering the writer's journey of literary suffering - perhaps that was the point?

I'll finish the trilogy but I'm bracing myself not to enjoy it.
