Nial savo stiliuje- intelektualiai, geros pastabos ir įdomūs netinėti kampai. Nebloga, tačiau nerekomenduočiau jeigu nenori dar giliau kastis į II pasaulinį karą. Šiai temai yra ir kitų, geresnių knygų. Bet autorius, kaip visad, šaunuolis

A lot of info, but nothing really new or profound. Quick but frustratingly dismissive foray into the human condition. Ultimately: ethnic conflict + imperial rivalry + economic volatility = warfare during the 20th century.

While interesting and well-written, it's really dark - contemplating the psychotic murderousness of human beings. It gave me this dark overlay one day when I was reading it, which felt a bit like a bad acid trip. I didn't finish it for that reason.

Harrowing narrative and very compelling. A warning in these dangerous times.

An apt historian. However, I have not and will never buy the argument that WWI and WWII were one long unending war. There were connections between the two but, ultimately this book does not end until Korea. We could easily extend the conflict to Vietnam and the wars across the global south.

History retold is history rewritten: Ferguson's account upends many of the assumptions of earlier historiography, providing ample justification for what otherwise would be yet another tome on the wars of the 20th century.

A well-written look at the horror that was the 20th century. Ferguson describes well the two world wars--their causes and afteraffects, as well as the other conflicts. His Epilogue is the most interesting as it describes the present and the future. He could not, of course, have known about the war in Ukraine or Israel, and it would be interesting to read his thoughts. .

Dense and thorough, a very in-depth examination of the conflicts of the 20th century. Delves deeply into the racial animosities that drove much of the conflict, and does not whitewash the sheer brutality. Not a quick read, but very much worth the effort.

Very informative with regard to the details of each war he discussed. He also provided observations that teach a lot about human nature. Even though the book is very long, I could have continued reading had it been Ionger; because I kept learning.
