I looked everywhere for this book. The Christchurch libraries, Overdrive, Amazon... Finally tracked it down in the University of Canterbury Education library, only to discover that an updated version is freely available from his website. Figures!
I think I enjoyed reading a hard copy of this book--it's a big book. Useful, and I see his influence in a lot of the authors who have influenced me, and I definitely got a lot of value out of it. I wouldn't say that I'm a Robbins fan, but now that I'm better acquainted with his work, I'm more appreciative of it.
Okay. That was short. But, in this new world, I have a little more listening time. Given my exposure and training as a Dream Manager, I think I might modify my coaching approach to add 4 1 year dreams to my plan instead of 2. And, I also heard a bit of BJ Fogg’s tiny habits - celebrate the progress toward a win! Don’t just wait until you’ve achieved the goal. ;). Great timing and great book. There was even a reminder that dark times won’t last forever. That was definitely a hopeful moment for a world of self-isolation, curfews and uncertainty amid Covid-19.
Oh boy oh boy. Mr. Tony sure liked to talk about himself a lot. I understand this was written in the 90’s and there was scarcity of gurus or self help coaches or whatever, but come on.. give me a break... the number of examples surrounding him or his family.. a bit narcisistic in my opinion. In the end.. good book, good knowledge.
New age mumbo-jumbo that's about as in touch with reality as a spiritual healer crossed with an alien abductee. Avoid.
The only useful tips I really picked up from this book are: Don't be afraid to imitate the successful, make decisions and change your approach. That's it.
The book has some really great information that, when applied, can make some significant changes in a person's life. It includes variety of different topics. From communication skills to obtaining what you want & making a change.
Personally, I liked the first 40% of the book & found it very informative after that I got absolutely bored.
