Pretty cheesy dialogue surrounding the romances and the plot seemed really rushed at the end. While the point is to understand the previous generations of women and how they impacted the first generation, it seemed to be missing something later on in the novel.

This book was really good.
Reason for four star is the printing. it was very hard to see the writing.
There were 6 different writing fonts
Will read book again and make sure it is clear to see it.

Not a great read but it had been my mom's book and so I wanted to read it. It is the story of three generations of strong willed women so that was fun :)

A great escape.

This has been a really good book. The story went full circle. BTB is an excellent descriptive writer. I would recommend this book to women. She is alwAys very positive in her story telling.

At places it felt a little drab and often what has been described as 'Act of Will' seemed unreasonable and tiresome.

This books portrayed three characters who were very much alike and yet their difference in opinion kept them apart. I appreciated Audra's sacrifices and the way she brought up her daughter but I felt through her love she pressured her daughter into becoming something she didn't want to. Audra loved her daughter and wanted her best but Audra's dreams were not Christina's dreams. If Christina chose to fulfill her mother's dreams she would have to sacrifice her own. I didn't think any daughter should be put into such a situation. Christina's dreams were important to her and Audra should have allowed her to pursue them rather than sacrifice it. I liked the way Kyle rejected all Christina had to offer and walk away. I believe everyone should have right to follow what they want in life. Between these three women I admired Kyle mostly because of her nature. She brought forward a message that I believe is very important. Her desire to see through her dreams has little to do with going against Christina. She was doing it for herself solely. It was a book I would read twice.

A sweeping sage narrating the lives of three indomitable women.
The story opens with Kyle, who is having an argument with her mother Christina who wants her to take over her fashion designing business whereas Kyle wants to follow her dream of painting, enter Audra the grandmother who tries to cool the situation down.
So starts a journey back into time starting with Audra and her turbulent life with her temper driven husband Vincent who worked hard as a nurse, children's nanny and eventually found solace in her life by working herself incredibly hard to ensure her daughter Christina had every advantage in life and lacked for nothing.
Christina, Audra's daughter shows an incredible talent for art which is nurtured and encouraged by Audra to the point she becomes obsessive about her succeeding in the field of art but Christina is seeing how hard Audra is working and how much she sacrifices to make Christina's life easy and she cannot bear to allow it to continue so Christina to Audra's chagrin drops out of art and instead takes up fashion design intending to make money quickly so for once she can support her mother instead.
Can Kyle at a later date actually learn anything from her mother's and grandmother's "act of will" and self sacrifice?
Can she ever win the blessing of her family to follow a career in art?
Cleverly done and an inventive way of telling a relatively modern tale in retrospect by weaving the tales of three strong women who refused to give in and fought against the odss.
A wonderful story and well worth reading.

The book is terrible. Aside from the fact that the romance genre is clearly (and has never been) my cup of tea, it's just horrible. The book is overwritten, the writing itself is terrible and the little potential it had to be readable was completely blown to shreds by sentences such as "she saw him and knew he was the one", "He knew she wasn't the girl to be messed with, she was the real deal" and then chapters of ridiculous sex and how they "fitted perfectly". To tell you the truth, I couldn't even bring myself to finish this horror, and while I'm sure that this type of writing works for some people, it just wasn't and couldn't be for me.
BUT, in case you want to learn how NOT to write a book, then I recommend it wholeheartedly.
