I read this book because I needed someting 'easy' to read during the holiday, since my reading time was limited. I had seen the movie so thought it would be a nice easy read. I don't think that I have ever said this but the movie was better. The main plot was the same but many, many, many of the details were different, and not as good. It met my goal of not having to think about what I was reading - - but that was all. Just not a very good book, I am sorry to say.

This is so not my type of book but I wound up reading it after a former co-worker wrote a review of it in our very short lived agency newsletter. In her review she mentioned something that made the book seem interesting to me but neglected to mention that it was a romance novel. Clearly I was living with my head in the sand if I didn't know that Barbara Taylor Bradford is a romance novelist but anyway. The book was okay for a quick, mindless read, but nothing I'd ever tell other people to read. A youner divorced guy meets and older divorced woman and they instantly fall in love. They have to deal with some stuff from their past relationships so they can live happily ever after. Ugh

Shockingly a story where the movie is better than the book. There's nothing wrong with the book as such, it really just suffered from a lack of real drama and ended up being kind of boring. The movie with Victoria Principal is far more entertaining.

This story felt rushed, and had very little character development. I usually like Barbara Taylor Bradford's characters so this was a disappointment.

I'm not a huge romance novel reader anymore, but sometimes I'll pick one up due to a sad mood. Love in Another Town is lighthearted, a short read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the characters. Hint though, make sure you're not anywhere public when you get to the bedroom scenes...oh my!

It was a nice, short story. I love this author, but this book didn’t have much substance. Kind of predictable. The ending was impactful.

Best part of the book:
“You and she are meant to be together. You were always meant to be together, and your whole life has been a journey toward her. And hers has been a journey toward you. Once you were souls who were joined together as one, and then you were split asunder. Your whole lives have been spent trying to get back to each other. When you found each other you became whole. Never doubt her in any way.” P. 171

This book is okay. I can say it is a sad but happy story. Jake and Amy, high school sweethearts that drifted away from each other helpless and full of dreams without even knowing it. Divorce on the edge, Jake moves out of town. Jake meets best friends, Maggie and Samantha on a theatrical job for lighting, The Crucible. When Jake and Maggie get serious, a large job falls into place for the both of them on a farm. Maggie learns she is expecting a child. Amy falls ill with cancer and later gets in a fatal car accident and has a near death experience. As Amy's life falters, she no longer wants a divorce and as a final farewell to Jake she leaves him everything she can to him and wishes him well on his new life journey with Maggie and their soon to be son. The only thing she wishes for Jake is for him to marry immediately after she's gone. As a promise we'll kept, Jake and Maggie get married and soon expect their sons arrival. It is such a short story but cute and bittersweet.

This book was just okay for me. I will say it was a very quick read - I was able to finish in an afternoon, but it was super predicable and a little annoying at times. I felt like certain characters were made out to be unfavorable in order to justify the relationship between the two main characters - I didn't really think that part was necessary.

Amazingly simplistic. What a waste of time, even though it was mercifully short. I struck me as though it might have been a sub-plot or outline of an earlier book that was never developed or used until it got published in 1995, apparently on the author's reputation.

oh gosh,i rediscover myself as a bookworm,i like romance and love story so much. while i read every single page in this book i kept telling myself, I'm glad i picked this one.although i always think love is same and love stories are pretty much same like happy ending at the end nothing much, and we all know that but i did like reading love story and this book don't fail me, Maggie's feminine energy, jakes kindness everything on point .i felt like watching a romantic movie all the time while flipping through the pages. I just loved it.

this made my flight from Florida to NY go very quickly, even a 30 min delay on take off. the first 150 pages were moderately well written and predictable. the end was just ODD. truly. not sure if it was very good, but i liked it.

This was just okay for me. I did like the things Jake did for Amy (he & his wife were separated). Maggie (Jake's older divorced girlfriend) was really a good woman & very understanding. I just wish the story had been a bit better.
