The book plot was thin. Being a third installment in a series, I couldn't grasp the references to the earlier works, which undoubtedly the fans enjoyed. I also found descriptions overzealous and somewhat cheesy but again, I understand why women who love fashion and style would appreciate that. Notwithstanding, the book picked up a little in the end.

I would still want to read the first book...and experience the formidable Emma Harte first hand.

Was on the edge of my seat at times! Loved it just as much as the first time I read it!

A truly romantic novel with ups and downs a story about family roots and how money has changed family relationships the characters of the novel are beautifully described a novel full of twists and turns absolute brilliant read.

Well done! This kept me interested through the whole book. I am RUSHING to get started on the next in the series!

OMG what a dreadful book ...I have reached the halfway mark and am giving up!

There is zero of anything interesting in this book ...boring characters boring endless inane narrative descriptions of emotions clothing food scenery. Nothing actually happens ...there is no plot!

This is number three of Bradford's A Woman of Substance series. I read the original Woman of Substance about a year ago and loved it. Such a great story. Can't believe this is written by the same author. I read more of this drivel that I should have as I just expected something interesting would happen . Halfway through not one interesting thing has happened!

Avoid this novel at all costs! I have a few more novels by this author in my bookcase I think I will chuck them away!

Although this book is in the middle of the saga series, this is a great historical romance and family saga, when cousin marries cousins, all heirs in a family business. I'm also reading Hold the Dream, that I'll finish this weekend and will start Unexpected Blessings this weekend. I'll read the rest in between next year. This has lots of drama, passion and intrigue.

This excellent book of Barbara's tayolor is so thrilling ans so whelmed with suspense... It never ceases surprising you, even after deceiving you with some predictable events.. This book, is a real thought and emotions provoking, greatly written by a great woman.. She's born to write.. luckily this year... one of the best books Ive read.. well I haven't had the chance to read the first Emmas Harte saga.. I started with hold on the dream and to be the best... so excited to read the other books of this legendary series

Was loaned the first one and then there was no looking back. Once I started the book I knew I was going to read them all. Brilliant characters and intriguing story line spanning a century.

I am hooked on the Emma Harte series of books. Not sure why. Good plots, interesting characters mostly well developed, love the descriptions of clothes and jewels. But basically these rich, good looking people have to grapple with the same sorts of issues us plebs grapple with - honesty, integrity, loyalty, friendship and love - or the lack of same.

I have mixed feelings about this novel. On one hand, it was overly detailed and contained long passages that were quite boring. On the other hand, the story was well crafted and skillfully written. I admire any writer who has such a firm command of the language and who can write such a multi-faceted plot line.
