*Marlfox* by Brian Jacques is a thrilling and intense entry in the *Redwall* series, featuring a new set of villains and a daring quest. The story follows a group of Redwall residents, including the young squirrel, Teatime, and the determined mouse, Trimp, as they journey to stop the evil Marlfoxes—a dangerous, cunning family of foxes—from taking over Redwall Abbey. The Marlfoxes are relentless in their pursuit, and the heroes must face numerous obstacles to protect their home. With themes of loyalty, bravery, and the strength of friendship, *Marlfox* delivers an action-packed, suspenseful adventure set in the richly imagined world of Redwall.

Loved the story! It is great to get into the world of Redwall, again. The brave beasts of the abbey have to defend themselves from cunning enemies, friends go off on a quest, and the ever present fine food make for an adventure that is enjoyable for young and old.

Part of the somewhat legendary Redwall series for children. Not one of the finer examples, but in fairness it is book 11 and probably hard to keep it fresh at that point. Typical fare - army of villains attack the Abbey, which is in no way prepared to resist, and yet manages to do so.

There's nor much I can say that has not already been said by other reviewers. This book stands decently on its own so it can be read by nearly anyone, but foreknowledge of the Redwall world will definitely help with some of the details and references here. A solid volume by an author who has consistently proven his merit in writing a fantasy world with animals.

An exercise in exploring the perspective of evil characters. Perhaps Jacques' best work.

This book is a great installment in the series, with the same lovable characters and some new ones, each with their own clearly distinguishable personality traits. One of my favorite characters in the series would have to be Florian the Rabbit, his antics definitely helped make some of the dryer parts easier to read. This book makes some great leaps in terms of lore and doesn't make any noticeable differences from pre-established lore. The use of different accents really immerses you as supposed to everybody talking the same way. A great addition to an already great series will definitely be continuing it.

Richly plotted with an excellent cast of young warriors and a unique spin on classic fox villains.

Remains one of my favorites! All the delicious descriptions of foodstuffs, witty banter, elements of adventure, and exceptional characters (Florian, Mokkan, Dippler, Song). There’s a hint of Macbeth about the Marlfox intrigue, but Jacques’ emphasis on non-violent conflict resolution (but still justifying battle scenes) is still a pleasant course in a fantasy novel that holds up more than twenty-five years later.

I read the many of the Redwall books when I was a child and I absolutely adored them. There is something magical about the whimsical nature of the world that Jacques has created. Yet, it is not a world without consequences. I was shocked at the number of characters that died on both sides of the field. Jacques also has a firm grasp on human emotion (or animal I suppose) and portrays it brilliantly; I was almost moved to tears multiple times throughout the novel.
This was an excellent novel that I would highly recommend to everyone. It is action packed, has great story-telling, and builds its characters wonderfully. A well earned 5 stars.

The best cover art of the entire series. Catherine said the fox is hot. I told her the foxes are the villains. She was undeterred.
