Starts with a cute bit about kitchen safety. section for each season starts with a poem then a short story about the creatures of Redwall preparing for a seasonal feast with recipes for each of the dishes interspersed.

Having never read a Redwall novel (book?) these recipes had no context for me.

Ummm! The recipes all sound so yummy! I actually made the Stuffed Springtide Mushrooms for dinner the other day- very good! I'm looking forward to Mole's Favourite Deper 'N'Ever Turnip 'n' Tater 'n' Beetroot Pie! I think this book should be on everyone's cookbook shelf, both for cooking with the kids, and for dinner for adults! I enjoyed the Redwall books too! Illustrations were lovely; very sweet! I can't wait to try these recipes with the produce from my garden this summer! Everything sounds so delicious. Kudos to Brian Jacques for getting it right! I, too, lament hearing about the feasts, dinners, parties, with NO descriptions of the food served! What nerve of the authors to leave us readers dangling!

What a sweet little book! Part cookbook, part storybook, this is truly one of the best children's cookbooks I've ever read.

Growing up my mouth watered at Brian Jacques' descriptions of food, and his note at the beginning explains why he made such a point of it: he grew up during the rationing years of WWII in England, and he was so frustrated that the books HE read growing up never had descriptions of the magnificent banquets mentioned. What an origin story!

The recipes are divided seasonally, and I look forward to trying some this summer!

Addition: I made Hare's Haversack Crumble. Easy and delicious! My husband loved it!

One of my favorite cookbooks I’ve ever read, and I read a lot of cookbooks. The illustrations are so sweet, excerpts from the wonderful series add to the whimsical recipes, and the large amount of vegetarian/vegan recipes is delightful. If a recipe isn’t vegan, it can easily be made so with some simple ingredient swaps. I’ve really enjoyed the recipes I’ve made from this cookbook!

This book is delightful! Filled with all the recipes from the series that I've drooled over time & again, and now I can finally cook them. And the story that goes along with the recipes is so sweet and lovely, I almost cried when I reached the end.

A must have for any Redwall fan!

Very cute story to accompany these recipes, with adorable illustrations. Many tasty-sounding recipes that I will definitely be trying. I am looking forward to having a "Redwall feast" with my book club this month, since we read a tale of Redwall for our selection. It's going to be a tasty occasion indeed! Honestly, speaking from the experience of having read every Redwall novel, a cookbook was basically a necessity after stuffing through all of Jacques' Redwall droolfests. It's high time to experience this magical land on a tastebud level!

When my kids were young and we read the Redwall books together, we always enjoyed the feast scenes. We also enjoyed cooking together as a family, and we tried our hands at making up recipes to match the foods described. Our version of "deeper'n'ever pie" was a chicken-less chicken pot pie, piled high with chunks of root vegetables in a creamy sauce, and topped with biscuit dough. Yum! My now-grown son just bought me a copy of "The Redwall Cookbook." I look forward to making Brian Jacques' version of "deeper'n'ever pie" with my granddaughter soon!
