This was a good end to Martin and his journey. I always wondered what fully prompted him to put down the sword at last. The trials of his tribe and his poor father, learning that there are only so many battles to be fought before you realize to just enjoy home and friends. A good book!

The writing, story, and character are all done with great quality.

The story start with Martin wanting to know what happen to his father Luke. We get to know how Martin feels. The journey at the beginning felt a little long. Some of the characters they meet do appear in the other books before and afore this book.

Luke's story brings a satisfied conclusion as to what happen. At the end, Martin has find contentment.

The Legend of Luke, a fantasy novel by Brian Jacques, is a classic tale of heroism.
tThe book opens in a place called, Mossflower Country, where woodland creatures are in the process of creating a giant abbey for all to live. The main protagonist, Martin, is helping to construct the abbey when suddenly, for no apparent reason, he is hit with a wave of questions and longing for the home he had to leave when he was just a small child. With his faithful friend, Gnoff and Dinny, he sets out on a perilous adventure to go back to his homeland and find the father he never knew. They encounter many dangers on the way, until they reach the destination and hear the legend of Martin’s father, Luke the Legend.
tI liked this book a lot because the author did a really good job describing the setting in the book. Like on pg. 147 when it said ‘’The lush grass sprawled out before them, green for as far as the eye could see.’’ The setting was just so beautiful.
tAnother reason why I liked this book was the way the author kept you engaged. There was never really a boring point in the story, because just when you had had enough of the setting, something exciting happened. Like the characters would be chatting for awhile, then BOOM! A sword fight. That way, the author always kept the reader engaged.
Although I did like this book, sometimes the story would get to predictable. I really felt the author could have incorporated more twists in the plot. There were only one or two times when I felt shocked, (And I’m NOT going to give an example because that would spoil the book.) and the rest of the time it was predictable.
Also, I did not care for all of the gore and violence in this book. There were times when the characters would be in a battle and it would say something disgusting like. ‘’He watched as the arrow came down and buried itself in his arm.’’ (92)
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an exciting read.

Brilliant as I knew it would be! Both Martin and lukes tales made for some exceptional reading but lukes tale especially was a very bittersweet adventurous story. I expected that Martin would end up reuniting with his father and so I'm glad that this wasn't the case as the actually finality to lukes story was so much more rewarding, a truly engaging warriors vengeance tale. There were a lot of characters in this one, though I had very little trouble remembering who was who, one or two of the more minor characters slipped by me at certain points but this didn't affect the overall enjoyment of the book at all. I'd have to put this right up there as one of the best redwall books I've read so far, I think that's due to it being a Martin based story. Much like in mossflower and Martin the warrior, the characters warrior prowess, kindly nature and steadfastness when the odds are set against him, make thoee particular redwall tales such a joy to read.

Great read, just like all the other Redwall books. Probably among the best, Mossflower still holds that top spot for me. This one was just one long adventure, which was nice. I'm not as much a fan of the ones where someone is kept prisoner and they stay around that area for the whole book. Somewhat different format as it changes point of view in the middle of the book, but that worked really well

By far one of my top favorites from the series. 15 years later and I still remember the ending and how it impacted me as a child. Brian Jacques was not afraid to cover the sadder parts of life in his books. Because of his boldness, I was able to grow emotionally while reading these books.

Martin, Gonff and Dinny Foremole along with other familiar friends like Ferdy & Coggs (all grown up), Abbess Germaine, Bella and Skipper lead the reader on a new adventure. Trimp the wandering hedgehog finds her way to Redwall and unknowingly causes Martin to reflect on his past. Trimp along with Martin and his two best friends, Gonff and Dinny decide to leave Redwall and their loved ones--who are in the process of finishing Redwall Abbey construction--to find out more about Martin and his long lost father, Luke. Part way through, the perspective changes to that of Luke and his friends, as they travel to avenge the death of their families at the paw of the evil Vilu Daskar. As with all of Jacques' novels, the journey is filled with adventure, new friends, battles and mysteries.

In this book, Martin and his friends travel to the area where Marin was abandoned as a baby. He is searching to information about his father and the circumstances of his abandonment. I love the characters in each of these stories so much. I get so invested in them and their adventures. This is a wonderful series.

From my 12-year-old son:

I was curious to keep reading and finish this book. One scene I especially liked in The Legend of Luke was when the rabbit stole the food. It was suspenseful because the rabbit was sneaking onto the ship and there was a ton of bad characters on the ship. So it was exciting.

One thing that I didn’t exactly like was when the animal characters were talking in their own language. It was really bad grammar and made it hard to read.

There were three parts in the book (called books). I most liked the second one because it was about Luke.

Regarding the length of the book, in the beginning it felt slow. The middle was fast and exciting and then in the end it was suddenly almost slower than the beginning.

Overall, I am glad I read the book but I probably wouldn’t recommend it to my friends.
