I would like to thank our dear author, Brian Jacques who wrote this magnificent book, Taggerung. Taggerung is a fantasy book fill with action and adventure but you can also read about the love and kindness with a mix of drama in this wonderful story where we learn about the animal "society" walk on two legs, talk, and behave like humans. At the page before the prologue you can find the map of our book, you can see the rivers, forests, mountain and stream quite clear and there is also a compass to show you the way if you might get lost in the adventure. While reading, you will meet our main character Tagg with his little friend Nimbalo. In the shadow behind their back are the ruthless vermins who will do anything to kill Tagg in order to get the title the strongest beast. Besides all the darkness, there is always light shinning at the lovely Redwall Abbey where peaceful and harmony creatures live together as a big family, and Cregga, the Badgermum, is their beloved leader. Most of the character in this book will go through a lot of drama where they lost their family, being kidnap, or had a very rough childhood with no love from their parents. But they all had used all the courage, kindness, and wisdom to guide their way forward to the light where they will find the people who they love and love them ,too. And most people in this world gave up in the simplest task in their life and think it would be fine, and they would be terribly wrong to make a decision like that because that is the seed of coward which would grow in to a poisonous weed which will harm them later on. That is why you should never gave up no matter how painful it might be or how low and hard the problem is, you have to wipe your tears, calm your mind and move forward. For all the new readers who might want to read the AWESOME book: "The gates of Redwall are ever open to all our good friends", said by Mhera, Mother Abbess.

I've only read three of the books, but The Redwall is my favorite Book series. I love that after the First Book, you can basically go in to whichever book in the series you want.

Taggerung follows the series tradition of Great characters, locations, and story. A great continuation of the story of Redwall.

I love the Redwall books, but none of them have been able to keep up my imagination and interest quite like this one. I could not put it down, the moment I tried I would come back to it for "One more chapter", then another, then another. Rinse and repeat.
The plot was engaging and had some great twists, the hero having plenty of growth to go through and enough emotion to make you really care for the characters.
From action to suspense to heart-felt moments and overall Redwall feel, its a masterpiece in itself.

Got a freebie at the bookstore over the weekend, and it was the perfect nostalgic read during a (very) delayed train ride. All the hallmarks of redwall (riddles, friendship, FOOD), not the best in this glorious series but in the top third I’d say!

A little less food. A little less song. A bit more plot. A bit more character.
This one was pretty good.

One of my favorite books, though I don't usually care for animal protagonists. This is the book that introduced Brian Jacques to me, and is also why I am a fan of his writing.

“Eulalia’s the word, pronounced yoo lay lee ahh”

“Truth? What’s the truth, eh? Just a pack o’ lies made up by otherbeasts so you’ll believe ’em.

I’ve grieved and shed tears, long and loud, for my departed loved ones. Don’t be ashamed to weep; ’tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us.”

They helped the molemum to bathe Durby as they assured him, “No, no, water doesn’t shrink you. Look at me and Mhera, we both get lots of baths, and we haven’t shrunk, have we?” Durby allowed them to bathe and dry him, then he waved all three imperiously aside and marched to the door lintel. “Oi’ll just be a-measurin’ oi t’see if’n oi shrinked!” His mother measured him against the marks she had made to check his growth. She patted his head fondly. “Thurr thurr, choild, ee bain’t shrunken, ee growed summ, lookit!” The molebabe eyed her suspiciously. “Oi ’opes you’m bain’t tellen ee fibs!”

Little Gundil offered his beaker to Mhera. “Yurr, miz, you’m can taken ee drink o’ mine.” The ottermaid was about to accept the offer when the hare neatly relieved the molebabe of his beaker. “My turn to pinch somebeast’s drink, old chap, wot!” He swigged down a good mouthful, swallowed it and clapped a paw to his throat. A look of horror spread across his face. He charged off toward the Abbey pond, roaring, “Yaaaagh! It’s ’orrible! I’m poisoned! I’m on fire! Whoooaah!” Gundil stuck out a bottom lip as he inspected the empty beaker. “Hurr, et wurr only summ ’otroot zoop’n’dannyline wine an’ ’ot minty tea wi’ roasted chesknutters a-floaten in et. ’Tis moi fayvert drink. Vurry tasty, hurr aye!”
