Enjoyable, but not my favorite in the series. The last 2 chapters with WWII breaking out were really good though, and it was honestly a bit chilling seeing the experience in London from Mauds perspective.

Great book!!! My favorite of the whole series. It was like visiting all of the sights and countries virtually through Betsy’s eyes.

Read aloud for my girl and I. We loved seeing the author take Betsy out of her hometown and around the world, allowing us to see Betsy in new places and experiences. It would probably be a bit slow for someone who hadn't read any of the other Betsy books. But for those who are reading the series, it is a fun book to get to know Betsy differently.

Such a fun way to travel Europe-wish I could travel back to the 1910's and on, and travel like Betsy!

I read all the Betsy-Tacy books my library had as a child, but don’t think I knew the last few. This was a pleasure, with its view of Europe just pre-WWI.

Chronologically, this is a bit of a jump from the end of Betsy and Joe, so make sure to read Carney's House Party and Emily of Deep Valley in between for the fullest story progression.

The ending, with the WWI buildup, was great…but the beginning bogged down for me. I missed the Crowd.

I had been meaning to re-read this one for a while. For some reason, it's not one from the series I return to as often. Actually, this might be only the second time I've read it. It was so good! It certainly makes me want to travel; maybe not for a whole year and everywhere she went. But Betsy was only 22 and she was living in strange cities all by herself. What a hero! And making friends. There is a moment when she realizes she is lonely and she took friends for granted, so then she has to go out and make some. I think her experiences are very relatable. And she is so likable! Betsy feels like a friend. There were a few little interesting dalliances she was involved in but she does her best to keep it all respectable; but we all knew it was Joe. When she comes to that realization, it is so beautiful! I like how this book seamlessly connects to Betsy's Wedding. So good! And I took my time with this one and read just a little bit each night. Go Betsy!

Brought this with me to London and it was soaked by the rain. Good times.

The whole book was unbearably boring (just a travelogue, with no interesting relationships or anything to make it worth reading). The end was pretty good, but not good enough to merit an extra star.

I tend to read this book when I am homesick, because it starts with Betsy setting off for a year in Europe, and she is terribly homesick. But as the chapters go by, she gets over it - and so do I. She always makes me appreciate living in Europe again.

But it isn't always the most successful cure, because as soon as I finish this book, I of course have to read Betsy's Wedding, which describes her wonderful homecoming, and then the adventure of married life.
