Somehow we ended up with 2 copies of this board book. When we hide one from the toddler (because we've just read it 10 times in a row) he will find the 2nd copy...sigh
I wasn't sure if I should give it 5 stars because my daughter absolutely love it and makes me read a zillion day per day, or git only 1 star exactely for the same reason... hahaha... But I thik she won't, after she's the target of the book...
A lion, tiger and dog give each other a lesson in counting (and outrageous one-upmanship) when they compete to see who can balance the most apples on their heads. This rambunctious story has stayed with beginner readers well into their adult years.
Great Book..illustrations excellent, easy enough for young readers to gain confidence. I am a first grade teacher and used this for a great STEM project. We read the book then worked on ..How may apples do I think I can stack on top using apples and playdough? My kids LOVED it!
Though this is a very quick read, I enjoy this book. It brings in the aspect of counting but doesn’t present it like most counting books do. Most counting books would have a number be on each page and maybe show pictures of corresponding number of items that go with that number but not make it into a story. This book has a set plot, yet still includes counting as the characters are competing against each other to see who can have the most apples on their head. You can’t go wrong with a classic Dr. Seus book.
Ten Apples Up On Top!, Theo LeSieg (Pseudonym), Dr. Seuss, Roy McKie (Illustrator)
A beginning Beginner Book, this ingenious story uses a vocabulary of only 75 different words. A hilarious story in rhyme about a number of animals who could carry 10 apples on their heads.
