Re-reading early Dr. Seuss in the light of all the recent bad press his books have been getting, I still am wowed by his wonderful graphic humor and writing skill. I cannot excuse the racist images in his cartoons, but I'm not going to cancel his genius, wither.

Cute story. But I'm not really impressed.

I love re-reading books that I loved as a kid, but unfortunately, as this book has shown me, not all of those books are as good as I once believed them to be.

I found this to be an amusing, entertaining story - one of Dr. Seuss’s more advanced books for a little bit older kids. Not really into the rhymes and crazy words but I loved it. A great instalment in the Seuss collection!

This was an interesting book, Dr. Seuss helps children learn about customs that are assumed by royalty and how people interact with those customs. It also taught them how to count higher numbers.

The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins by Dr. Seuss (Random House Books for Young Readers 1989) (Fiction – Children's). This book is over seventy-five years old now, and it is just as exciting to kids as ever. Bartholomew Cubbins' hat must be enchanted! Every time he takes his hat off, another appears in its place! Bartholomew runs afoul of the king when he appears to fail to doff his cap in the majesty's presence, and now it's time to meet the executioner – just as soon as Bartholomew takes off his cap! My rating: 7/10, finished 1964.

A nicely written tall tale. A bit pointless but fun.

Although this isn't as famous as some other Dr. Seuss titles, this one remains among my favorites. The illustrations were freaking awesome as the hats got more and more fanciful.

I just rediscovered this childhood favorite and wow. Still much favorite. And reading it allowed to fam is so much better.

The 500 hats of bartholomew cubbins was written by Dr.seuss. In the first bartholomew cubbin don’t have 500 hats, they have only one hat which belongs to father’s father’s father oldest hat in the kingdom of Didd. The kingdom of Didd Is on a top of a mountain and ruled by king derwin .Far off in the canberry bog, stood the hut of the cubbins family in the down of the mountain. The view to upside made the bartholomew cubbins small.one day bartholomew went to the market and came the king and all people took of their hat including bartholomew but king told bartholomew to take off his hat when he looked there was one more hat on his head then he take it off but there comes another hat in his heads so king told the royal coachman to took him to the palace very angrily. Then he took one more ….more… more 45 hats then 135 hats. Then came Sir snipps – maker of all hat for fine lords but he was not able to take off the hat a another new hat was coming there so the king called Nadd-Wise men, Father of nadd, Father of father of nadd but they also couldn’t do it then a small boy with a big lace collar came , Grand duke Wilfred – nephew of the king he taked a bow and arrow and tried it in bartholomew’s hat but it didn’t work a new hat appeared there on his head everytime . Then the king called yeoman of the bowmen but it didn’t work on his arrow he told that it was black magic so the king called the 7 magicians they came with each black cats and they chanted but it also didn’t work then king told exccutioner to kill the man , the exccutioner told that he will not kill a man with hat so I will took off your hat first he tried but it didn’t work so he was back at the king. It had been 453 hat which has taken off. Then Wilfred told that he will push bartholomew from the toppest turret ,king agreed. Each new hat was fancier than before.it was the 500th hat, which he was wearing now. But when he was upside, it was the beautiful hat in the kingdom of didd it has a ruby which was larger than any king had owned, it had ostrich plumes and cockatoo plumes, mocking bird plumes and paradise plumes. The king told that he will buy the hat in 500 pieces of gold, bartholomew agreed then he returned home with a bag of gold.

Love the two Bartholomew books that Dr. Seuss did. Nice little fantasy stories.
This one tells how the simple act of taking off his hat when being presented to the king gets young Bartholomew in all kinds of trouble.
How come no one has scooped up the movie rights?
