A solid retelling of a classic story, Peter Kuper's art brings the familiar story to vivid life. I picked this up based on a recommendation from a student, and I liked how the art captured the emotions of the characters and the time period of the original story. This is definitely a good text to pick up if you want to revisit Kafka's story or if you want to make the original accessible for all readers.

Really cleverly represents many of the books major themes visually. I wish it had been longer, and dealt with a few more complexities in the novella.

This adaption of the classic work by Franz Kafka was my first encounter with Metamorphosis. I've seen the book thousands of times, of course, but never read it. I could make a wild guess what it was about and was in no hurry to read about a giant insect! However, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to read this adaption. It was definitely a quick read, filled with black and white illustrations. I honestly fill like the illustrations and the lack of color set the perfect tone for this story. While I can't say that I love the story, this adaption did compel me to finally read the book. I think it's a good quick read, but I was left with so many questions.

Great graphic novel version of Kafka's Metamorphosis. I think that I actually prefer it to the original short story.

I hadn't read Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis before and I have it in the normal book form as well.

I find this to be an interesting book and I am thinking about the deeper meanings and symbolisms of it.

I really enjoyed the art style, it is truly so fitting and has elements that reminded of Tim Burton's style. I felt like I was watching a movie quite a bit. The art style was so fitting and added so much liveliness to the story.

Great adaptation of this classic tale. The graphic art is fabulous-expressive scratch boards are the perfect medium for telling the story of this dark, angst-ridden family. Kafka left it all vague enough for each reader to get their own perspective from it. This time around-maybe because of the art-I found it a tale of vicious sibling rivalry. Good stuff; great treatment.

Read this short story in one sitting. Prior to this, I had read The Trial by Kafka and had liked it a lot.

This story is also very Kafkesque. Metamorphosis is a story about a man who one morning wakes up as a vermin. What changes this transformation brings in the life of Gregor, the protagonist, who was also the sole earner for the family which included a younger sister and old mother and father, is what the story talks about.

It beautifully illustrates how relationships transform drastically with turn of events even in closest of bonds. Turning into an insect is a clever metaphor for describing tragedies, illness or old age and how this metamorphosis brings about change in behaviour of people around us.

Very well written but quite a sad tale.

Peter Kuper does an excellent job of adapting Kafka's classic novella into a graphic format. The art style is very stark and succeeds in conveying the tone of the original story. I particularly enjoyed the depiction of the three lodgers, though everything is displayed splendidly.
