This book is powerful. It's a balanced look at grace both as the recipient and the giver. Well worth adding to my "to read again" list.

This book came to me after a long, painful "grace awakening" in my own life and was, therefore, very relatable and powerful. I read it as a digital library loan, but I will definitely buy the hard copy to read, mark, and reference many times over.

Talked about grace killers in church with legalism and emphasized the liberation of God’s grace. Offered a new perspective on the story with Paul and Barnabas it’s easy to forget how we received grace during our conversion when it’s time to give it to others. I liked the poem “letting go” at end of chapter 7. Chapter 8 was my favorite chapter. Legalism says let me out grace says let me in. Shame is one of the common problem in believers unfortunately because it’s encouraged within the church. They get more liberty before they got saved then afterwards it’s expected somehow that people have it all together once they are saved

Craig recommended I read this book after it was required reading in a DTS class. I loved it. This book is all application and challenges aspects of life you thought outside of grace's impact. Craig will probably laugh later at how much I highlighted to write down in my journal or write down for someone else. Definitely a must read.

I enjoyed the first few chapters and the last chapter tremendously. The chapters in between were not as transformative for me personally. It is easy to see how this can be a life-changing book for someone who is trapped in the legalism that often infiltrates Christian churches and communities.

Grace is the answer to how we reach a lost world looking for answers.. Grace extended to us so that we may extend it to others..

Insightful and practical, filled with stories and scripture. An encouraging book that paints a great picture of what it means to live in the freedom of God's grace.

Chuck Swindoll is one of my favorite pastors and this book was a breath of fresh air. His tone is always warm and friendly, and casual enough that you feel like you’re talking with an old friend, not a well-revered expert in his field.

Churches these days have become institutions for upholding and continuing legalistic rigidity. A huge departure from the early Christians in the Bible who were adventurous, creative, fun, ACCEPTING, and passionate about the message of grace. I particularly loved the chapter on marriage. I’m sure I will read it again.

One of the best spiritually based books I’ve read lately. Charles Swindoll really is able to explain what grace is, what it looks like, how to practice it on a daily basis, how to nurture others through grace and many more facets of grace. I feel like I learned a lot about how to be an example of grace and he made me evaluate many parts of my own life and whether I’m a grace nurturer or a grace killer. Saw some things I need to change.

Wow. The perfect book for where I am in my walk with Jesus. So many valuable verses coupled with Chuck’s amazing insights and connections.

The sections on Marriage and Charitable Giving are incredible.

Practical applications for how to live a Grace-filled life abound. Tools for diagnosing when we are not living one are in there too. I don’t see how anyone could not get at least a few life-changing insights from this book.

Thank you God for working so powerfully through your humble servant Chuck!

Grace

A book that talks about how amazing Grace really works. Very good information on the way Grace affects everything in our lives. I'm Catholic and it made me think that one major difference between Catholic and protestant is in a book about Grace carbs would have said something the the blessed virgin Mary, but overall a good read.

3.5 stars. This book revealed to me how much I want grace and want what Dr. Swindoll wrote about it. It also revealed some of my more recent struggles with legalism.

The good: I was encouraged by Swindoll's writings about grace and it help me ponder and long for a "Grace Awakening."

I also wanted more. I wanted to know as a legalist how to be free. How does a rule follower and one who has a tendency towards legalism become free?

To be fair, I read parts and skimmed/skipped other parts. So perhaps it was my own fault I didn't get my answers.
