I think having a clear sight on both sides of Operation Phantom and knowing how everyone felt and being able to understand everyone's opinion.

A jet-fueled thrill ride piloted by Scot Harvath. It reads like a combination of adventures led by Ethan Hunt, James Bond and Jason Bourne.

The story offers explosions, chases, nasty bad guys, infallible good guys and a believable, positive ending. The action is well-constructed and developed and the thrills are almost non-stop. An absorbing and arresting read!

Brad Thor is a rising star in the world of thriller, but he's not quite there yet.

The book goes is rather a full-blown thriller, with plenty of action, but a lackluster plot. Scot Harvath seems to go a little too far sometimes and has no character significance but the fact that he is a courageous man on an important mission with too much skill and luck. However the conflict between the characters are interesting and it was definitely unfortunate that it did not work out with Claudia. Meg Cassidy is definitely a character with attitude and I hope that she will be here to stay.

This book is too much of a hero-villain story. With more thought on the plot and some intrigue, the series has potential to be much more.

For a Thriller stand point, it was a fun action filled ride. For a realistic stand point, I dont know true some of the events would be in the real world. Overall a great read. 4.5 out of 5 would recommend to all thriller readers.

Even better than Brad Thor's debut novel, "The Lions of Lucerne". There was an unfortunate 9/11 vibe from plot points in this story, & I was not too surprised to find out on the author's website, that 9/11 had taken place during the writing of this book. However, the obvious similarities were coincidental. I suppose writing any story involving acts of terrorism are going to have comparisons made. Anyway, once again, the characters are very strong in how they are presented here; as this carries on from the first book to some extent in the first act, we do get a better sense of some of the ongoing characters, most obviously, Scot Harvath. I really enjoyed that Harvath is joined by Meg Cassidy, they are written as compliments to one another.

The plot itself and the bad guys are pretty standard fare, save for a couple of good twists. There was some mention of a diminutive character named "The Troll" which never fully developed, but perhaps that was dropped in to be featured in a future story.

Speaking of which, I'm jumping right into the third book, "State of the Union" next. Brad Thor has brought the party to me this Labor Day long weekend, what can I say.

#2 in the Scot Harvath series.

Scot Harvath series - Secret Service agent Scot Harvath battles religious extremists and incompetent CIA spooks to save the world from WWIII. The Hand of God, an apparent Israeli terrorist group, is blowing up mosques in Saudi Arabia, assassinating Arab leaders and hijacking airplanes, all in an effort to provoke the Arab world into war with Israel. Harvath tries to derail the terrorist plot and avenge the deaths of buddies. Aided by Meg Cassidy, a beautiful Chicago public relations expert, Harvath chases the terrorist leader and a silver-eyed assassin from Hong Kong through Europe to North Africa. However, since Cassidy is the only one alive who has seen the face of the terrorist leader, the assassin chases them, too, trying to kill Cassidy before she can point him out.

While the first Scott Harvath novel was good, the second was outstanding. This book was nonstop action from page one til the end.

I still think the character of Scott Harvath lacks depth. This book reasserts his I'm the best, the only one who knows how to do things, jerkish attitude. While he often does know what's best and is right, a little humility would add something to his character, which in my opinion, is a little two-dementional, at least at this point in the series.

All told, I really enjoyed this book and I'm on to the third installment.

A direct follow on from #1 The Lions of Lucerne, Scot Harvath is on the trail of the perpetrators of the kidnapping of the President. As he prepares to track down and eliminate these people, the world is also being subjected to a series of bloody terror attacks apparently targetting Muslims. The clues point toward one man — the world’s most feared, most ruthless terrorist, Hashim Nidal but things are more complex than they appear. Working alongside Scot is a rather lovely civilian, Meg, who played a key role in foiling a plane hijack and is the only person who can identify the mastermind criminal.

A fast paced and entertaining spy thriller. As #2 in the series I feel that it needs a bit for freshness to maintain high interest.

Well, I hadn’t quite finished listening to this story prior to surgery so it took me a few days and a few back ups to get back into the tale.

Have you ever wondered how you would track a terrorist whom no one has ever been able to identify? This is what Scot Harvath is involoved in as all clues leading to a terrorist preparing to take down both Israel and America lead to Hashim Nidal. Now Scot is tasked with leading the one civilian who can identify Nidal into his capture while keeping her safe.

And this leads us to the romantic entanglement between Harvath and Meg Cassidy. It also leads across several continents and into several countries as they try to locate the terrorist before it’s too late.
