I know opinions vary hugely about this book but I have got to say I really enjoyed it! I must also admit I only read it for a Xmas Challenge - read a book with the name Nicholas in the title:)

In my opinion Patterson took his skills at writing suspense and applied them to a romance instead. There were his short, choppy chapters which always end in such a way that you are forced to go straight on to the next one. Then there was the actual suspense - the fact that the reader has to wait until the very end to find out what happened. And of course there was the final twist which always comes just when you think you know it all.

It is a very sad book too with many tear jerking moments. Of course it was a bit corny and the characters a bit too perfect but most of the best romances are a bit that way. Only perfect people have perfect romances after all. That's why us ordinary people like to read them!

Anyway it turned out to be a very pleasurable read and I am very glad that taking part in challenges often delivers me these little gems I would otherwise never have read.

I loved this book. It is a little deceptive at first and it makes you think that there may be some inappropriate relationships taking place. Don't despair and press on and you will find a very rich and heartwarming story. There is a parable of 5 balls that has made a great impact on how I live my life and set priorities. I have not read others by James Patterson but this was a wonderful read. I made my teenage daughters read it as well. Michelle began reading it late in the evening and then did not sleep until it was done.

The plot twists and turns would have made for a great story if Patterson had not foretold the story the whole way through. A small word here a hint there he might as well have put a giant neon sign on the first page. Horrible writing all around.

Predictable garbage trying to be deep and passionate. NO! Truly awful writing. Never cared an ounce for the charters. Patterson has written about 800 books. He should really think about quality first. AVOID!

In Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas, Katie likes a guy named Matthew who she wants to marry and be with for the rest of her life. For reasons unknown to Katie, Matthew can't seem to commit to her. Matthew leaves Katie a diary to read, a diary which will explain secrets to his past, a diary written by Matthew's ex-wife, Suzanne, to their son Nicholas.

As Katie spends her time reading the diary she becomes more aware of Matthews past life. This diary reveals heart breaking secrets to Katie as she reads along and re-lives all the tragic incidents that happen. Finally Katie comes to realize why Matthew couldn't commit to her. It is so hard for him and she starts to understand - but is it too late?

If they will ever spend the rest of their lives together is all hidden inside the book.

I was in the mood for something somewhat cheesy, but this was too much.

For the most part, I can even believe that the diary is so unbelievably perfect - it was intended for the kid, so his mother skipped all the "I'm so tired, I'm so exhausted, and we've had a fight" parts and left only the instagram-perfect life. (And invented the milestones because a) she's actually lying about everything b) James Patterson hasn't been around much when he had a baby, or he forgot, and he doesn't know how to use google.) Although, call me a prude, but I don't think that "oh your dad is so smoking hot and he's an amazing lover" is something you'd necessarily want to share with a child.

The book seemed extremely predictable (why would he give a diary written by his beloved wife to his beloved son to his mistress? And if the wife died and only the wife died, would Mr Perfect risk losing something this precious that belongs to his son?), but the goodreads rating made me believe that something else will happen. Nah.

Kiek daug meilės gali tilpti knygoje. Skaičiau ir negalėjau patikėti kokia ši knyga puiki ❤️
Atsitiktinai ją kažkada nusipirkau is antru rankų.

E no final estará tudo explicado...

What an interesting book by James Patterson. I loved how the story unfolds even if I figured out what was going to happen well before the end. That fact didn’t stop me from finishing. Each character was well described…only got a little confused at first by which Matt was which! A delicious little story….a great beach read!

Re-read 2022.
Typical Patterson in that this is a very fast read, short and punchy.
It is a bit sappy and a sob-fest though, so definitely one to be in the right mood for!!
I think the first read was when I had a newborn myself as I remember this being an emotional rollercoaster. This re-read not so much, but you'd have to have a heart of stone to at least not shed one tear ;)

I disliked this book so much that I created a new bookshelf for it on my account - yuck. While I was reading it (only because it was a book club pick), several adjectives came to mind - sappy, corny, preditible, shallow, uninteresting, flat. I can't think of one good thing to say about this book. It reads like an overly sentimental Hallmark movie, yet without the Hallmark charm. It amazes me that James Patterson, who is a popular author, could write such an undeveloped, grossly sophmoric book. Another reviewer called it vomit-inducting and I have to agree.
