As noted previously, I am a fan of this series about an interesting young woman carving out an unusual career for the time period while dealing with the aftermath of World War I. Each book reveals a facet of history that I did not know before and often, it is brutal in its implications. Since I have just read another in the series and am in the midst of the last book, I will continue to my next review.
I only read the first novel. How can one not love Maisie. Not much of a mystery, but a great character. A large part of the book, probaby half, is generating a background for Miss Dobbs and the other great characters. Loved the book.
I enjoy the psychological and spiritual approach the character takes to her investigations - more about the process of making people whole rather than the crime or other reason clients seek her assistance.
I enjoy these Maisie Dobbs mysteries. The setting is after WWI in London as society is changing and she pursues a career of investigator/psychologist....a very unusual career for a young woman. Reminds me of Agatha Christie but with better plots and writing!
