This was not bad, but there was stuff that disturbed me a lot. For example, when Nyra ripped Dustytuft's (Philip) heart out it made me feel so disturbed and disgusted, I feel disgusted just thinking about it. But this one was not that bad, I guess.

This one is really good. I think Nyroc (Coryn) touches on the human nature debate. Sorta like Kludd. Nyroc was born into a family of pure evil. He was raised to be malicious and cruel. That's all he ever knew. But inside him he had a pure heart that he refused to let be blackened by the Pure Ones. He had Ga' perhaps? He found great interest and enlightenment in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole.

I guess this book was okay, but it was basically all about Nyroc with the exception of Otulissa, Ezylryb, and Strix Struma's scroom [I don't like the P.O., so I wont mention them but they're obviously in there- Nyroc was being raised as one.] But I am interested to see if Nyroc makes it to Ga'Hoole.

So, my favorite character of this book would be Dustytuft [a.k.a. Phillip, as he's called by his best friend Nyroc, main character of this book] instead of Nyroc.

As of The Hatchling, the Ga'Hoole story shifts focus. Soren and his friends step down from their main character positions for the next two books, and Soren's nephew Nyroc takes over.

Nyroc is the second egg of Kludd and Nyra (the other broke before hatching), born during an eclipse and so destined to be either Nyra Junior or the super special awesome second coming of Jesus Hoole. As he's the new protagonist, I'm sure we can all tell which he's going to be.

Beyond the predictability, however, this is the best book of the series thus far. There's no nursemaid snake in this one, so the series' biggest reminder of its inherent racism is gone. Better yet, Nyroc actually makes friends with other species, which is (sadly enough) mind-blowing in this universe. And unlike Soren and his friends, Nyroc's anti-prejudice standing is actually genuine. His mother's a hateful bitch, and so he, unlike the other owls, learns that racism isn't only reprehensible when it's directed toward owls. It's reprehensible period. And it's great to have a character who finally reflects that.

The Hatching is the only book so far in the series that I truly enjoyed. Sure, it has some stupid bits and a lot of predictability, but changing the protagonist is the single best thing that's happened for the series so far. I really hope Lasky can keep this up.

داستان در این کتاب از سورن فاصله گرفت و به نایروک اختصاص داشت ، حالا بماند که نایروک کی بود

The book goes into great detail about Nyra and the Pure Ones more and explains the different connections between Nyroc and his fire site. Great book in the series!

I have come to really appreciate the narrator of these books almost more than the stories but this MC really intrigued me. I can’t wait to hear the next one.

4.5✨

This is probably the best one I’ve read of the series so far. I LOVE reading about villains and the son of the villain? Absolutely.

For a series made for children, this is very much an owl version of Game of Thrones, with some added water.

The Hatchling is the seventh book in the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series by Kathryn Lasky. Unlike the other books in the searies Soren is only mentiond but the book never fokases on Soren as a main character because in this book nether Soren or any one of the great tree are main characters (althow the book does fokus on Otulissa for about 2-3 chapters). Insted the main charactor is Nyroc son of Kludd and Nyra leaders of the pure ones. The story follows Nyroc as he trys to eskape the Pure ones and find a new path to follow. I enjoied this book because not only does it fokus on someone other than Soren But it also shows a new side and the reveling of good in the most unlikly of places. But this book was still too short for my liking and some parts seemed a bit rushed. The recomendation is still the same If you liked the other books then read on.
