Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy have always been my favorite 'celebrity' couple since the first time I watched Woman of the Year (1942). Woman of the Year is hands down one of my top 3 favorite movies of all time!

An Affair to Remember begins with a condensed biography of Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy as individuals and then dives into their 27 year long relationship. Several quotes were provided throughout this book that told their story better than I ever could.

"'Love' has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything." - Katharine Hepburn

"I've been loved and I've been in love. There's a big difference." - Katharine Hepburn

"We learned to be invisible in all the right places." - Spencer Tracy

"People are shocked that I gave up so much for a man. But you have to understand it gave me pleasure to make him happy, to ease his agony." - Katharine Hepburn

my favorite genre in books are new and old classic, fantasy and Biographies.. and I read almost only bios about old movie stars and this one was about the Amazing Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy and their remarkable love affair that lasted 26 years.. I didn't want to stop reading for a second it was by far one of the best books I have ever read.

You get to read about both of their childhoods and then the bigger half of the book is about their life together and they certainly were extraordinary, both in their acting and their affecton for eachother. both could have done almost anything for the other, I loved loved loved this book and I will read it again someday (and it's not often I read a book twice)

Highly recomended for people who like me love the old age movie stars and love to read about their lives.

A beautiful written book worth every praise it gets.

I didn't learn much that I didn't already know, but this was still an interesting read about a couple of fascinating people. Still, all that research and all those editors and Joseph Cotten's name was still misspelled? :)
