I love this book. The 4 stars are because of the stupid hero bent on "dishonoring" the heroine. The heroine is simply Amazing. She is kind, strong, honorable and steadfast. There I a horse of secondary characters, most of who were very entertaining. I first read this book ages ago, but I recently remembered it after a particularly nasty book involving an bunch of stepchildren and the evil "heroine" hell-bent on establishing her rule in the household. Yuckk.
Finding this book was not easy, but reading it was a delight. This author skillfully writes a heroine who corrects and teaches misbehaving children with kindness and empathy. That author should take note .

Well darn! That was so very excellent. I loved Anna, forced to work as a governess due to her grandfather’s poor investment choices. She turns herself into a child crisis manager and attracts the attention of Anthony, Earl of Greyley, who has inherited 5 cantankerous children from his benighted brother. Anthony who is single and very single minded, goes through 4 governesses before he takes his sister Sarah’s advice and hires their mutual friend Anna, much against Anna’s better judgment, to help him. The problem is that they are too similar in their determination, tenacity and sheer stubbornness. Anthony knows she will drive him crazy, but what else can he do?

Add to this 5 adorable but extremely mischievous children, Anna’s kindly rascal grandfather and Anthony’s assortment of conniving and devious relatives and the result is a true delight. The story never lets down for a minute. Really, just perfect.

Five resentful orphans, an overbearing Earl, a no-nonsense Society Lady turned governess and her interfering father: what could possibly go wrong? It's a powder keg fueled by attraction and humor! Loved it ten years ago and still do.

I originally read this as a paperback, many moons ago. The ebook came up at a no-brainer price so I bought it because my review of the paperback was so good. I couldn't remember the story, at all.

As I read, I still didn't remember the story so it was like a new book for me. I like stories with children so five children was a treat although they were not thoroughly fleshed out. The governess, and heroine, was though. I Really liked her. Anthony was okay. I usually like Type A males and like I said, he was okay but he didn't break my heart. I was reminded of The Sound of Music.

4.5* Boy do I love this book! While it is listed as the first in the Talisman Ring series, it is really the sequel to The Seduction of Sara more than a spin off. While there is not a lot of intimate scenes in this book, the tension between Anthony and Anna just makes the pages smolder. Add to that a busy body Grandfather, kids who skirt the edge of annoying, and a few others in the supporting cast...I don't know, this book just totally works for me from just about any angle. Definitely one of my favorite historical romances (and an occasional reread) - too bad the subsequent books in the series range from just ok to really good.

4.5 stars. Loved the humor in this story. The Anna's grandfather was a hoot and the children was great side characters as the Anna and Anthony fell in love. I thought it was fun that the heroine nose was mentioned a ton. It was a Roman, bold, remarkable, proud, huge, and adorable nose. Only took off a smidgen because Anthony held on a little too long trying to make Anna his mistress instead of his wife, but on another day I might give that half star back depending on my mood. LOL Totally enjoyed this one.
