Another ridiculously fun book in the Elsie Hawkins series. Elsie is funny and she reminds me of Grandma Mazur and Dirty Harry. Elsie does not seem to give a flying rats behind and does whatever she wants when she wants.

Looking forward to reading Wife for Hire next to see what trouble Elsie gets into and hose love life she meddles in next.

I have always loved the humor in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, so I decided to try this one and wasn't disappointed.

Hilarious!! Laugh out loud moments! Kind of a cheesy story, but it was an enjoyable, quick read for me.

When I first started this, I expected something like a Harlequin romance novel. A simple story line that would be okay at best. Surprisingly, I ended up really loving the book. Between Aunt Elsie, Ferguson, and the flasher, I couldn't stop laughing. I think I highlighted close to a quarter of the book because there were so many funny quotes. I can't wait to read the other books about Elsie. I'm sure she'll have me cracking up again.

4 Stars for Smitten: Elsie Hawkins Series, Book 2 (audiobook) by Janet Evanovich read by C. J. Critt.

It’s so much fun listening to a romance set around home remodeling while I’m remodeling a house. These characters are great and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I'll be honest, the character I liked most in this book was the stalker/streaker, and that was mostly because of the way I pictured him with the bag over his head, standing in the rain, and giving a little wave.
Lizbeth and Matt on the other hand made me want to punch something, but I usually settled with grinding my teeth. Lizbeth complains about wanting to be independent and free and single, but it comes out as a winded whine. Matt is bullheaded and arrogant and does anyone he wants regardless of what the people around him say or do.
Their relationship was fast, awkward, and cringe worthy. I'm actually surprised I was glad they finally got together, but I fear for their future. This story was a weird telling if to emotionally unstable people joining in an extremely unhealthy relationship.

Very cute story. But it's really, really hard not to notice the similarities between characters in these romance books and her Plum books. In this book the character of Elsie (the crazy aunt) was so similar to Grandma Mazur that it was almost reading the same story line, down to the blue caddy.

I realize that these romances were written long before the Plum series, maybe all these characters are based on the same "Real" person. Who knows? But it is a little frustrating to read the book, and have a thought suddenly pop in my head that is from the Plum books, or one of her other romance books.

I just try to read these romances sparingly so I don't get too annoyed because they are still funny and romantic books. I just can't read them back to back.

This book was a very cheesy wannabe romance novel. It was a romance novel for the mormons. Where the author doesn't go into great detail of the loving that the man and woman have, which was fine by me. But it was pretty lame. The whole time I was reading it, which I read because I was in a reading stump and my mom had this lieing around, the whole time, I just kept thinking to myself, stuff like this doesn't really happen. You don't fall in love with your boss on the first day that you meet him, and have him fall in love with you and your two kids. And the dog just got annoying. Really, the only cool character in this book was the crazy aunt. Past this one up girls. It was a waste of ink.
