La de veces que una serie es infinitamente superior a los libros es bastante grande. 'Sexo en NY' es otro ejemplo de este fenómeno.

Una serie de artículos escritos y unidos por Candace Bushnell en los que representa a la sociedad neoyorquina de los 90/2000. Hacia la recta final se centra más en Carrie y Mr. Big y algunos personajes más haciendo como una historia más precisa, pero hasta ese momento es una lectura caótica sobre momentos y diálogos casposos y rancios con una pátina de misoginia y homofobia. También, se abusa demasiado de la palabra mam*da. No es necesario.
En general una lectura caótica que se mantiene solamente por la serie que dio lugar, pues si no existiese, este libro solamente sería perfecto para la sala de espera del dentista.

Ugh, this book was a HUGE disappointment, like Mr. Big. I LOVE the series but this book was boring and I just didn't care about the stories. The series made me fall in love with NYC and drove me to pack up my junk and move to the big city to live like the 4 women. It also made me want to be a writer and finally start my blog. However, if you are a huge fan of the series and movies then don't read this book. This time, I say watch something instead of reading it.

I don't understand the point of this book. On one hand, I liked the ending more than I liked the series finale of the show; on the other, all of the characters in the book were caricatures of the worst qualities in people, unsympathetic and kinda psychotic. The first half of the book (a series of vignettes) was a bit more fun than the second (Carrie and her ensuing mental break-down with Big). Carrie, of the show and of the book, sucks.

The writing style is definitely not for everyone but alas! The characters were different and I enjoyed seeing how some of them fit into the show. There were parts of this book I truly loved and found relatable, and at times it was so uncomfortable and cringe-worthy I thought it was my worst nightmare.

Yikes. What I find amazing is that a show with characters I grew to love so much was birthed by this book with characters that almost make me embarrassed to be part of the human race. And it simply hasn’t aged well and includes some terms that are very un-PC in today’s very PC world.

Mig hefur sjaldan langað jafn mikið að tjá mig um eina bók.

Okei okei ég veit að fólk hatar þessa bók en ef þið setjið hana niður í tíma og rúmi, þ.e. NYC í níunni, og aðskiljið hana frá þáttunum, þá er hún algjört slay. Mér finnst líka margir sem gagnrýna hana gleyma að hún er ekki skrifuð sem bók heldur er þetta samansafn af pistlum. Þú hefur ekki mikið rými til að skapa þrívíða karaktera í dagblaðapistlum - fyrir utan það að þessi bók er hulin þykku lagi af íróníu og það er frekar augljóst að karakterarnir eru frekar skopstælingar af ákveðnum týpum.

Heilt yfir er Bushnell flugbeittur penni, írónísk, fyndin, CAMP og með góðan húmor. Þegar maður afskilur sjálfan sig frá hinu alvarlega egói sem cringar yfir klisjukenndum frösum og lélegum bröndurum og hneykslast yfir hallærislegu fólki - yfir í sjálfið sem getur sleppt sér og opnað augun fyrir hinni miklu gelluvídd - þá er þetta meistarastykki.

Empecé el libro con muchas ganas debido a que la serie de televisión me gustó mucho.
No he podido pasar de la página cien, soy incapaz de acabarme esta novela.
Es tan pesada porque no hay un hilo de trama que seguir, sólo son divagaciones de media hoja sobre determinadas personas o determinadas cosas que hacen.
Sencillamente no he podido con ella...
