DNF - Being this was written 35 years ago, it isn't uncommon for books to have the weak, shell-shocked widow. But it started rubbing me the wrong way and I just couldn't let it go. Why she did some of the things she did just don't resonate this many years later so that I gave up fairly early on.

The audience are about 12 and older and are also for people who love reading horror books. It is kinda chanlleging because I sometimes stumble over the words I don’t know. I think the author is trying to challenge and entertain us at the same time. The author appeal to scary imagination.

As always, John Saul wrote beautifully. However, I felt let down by the plot as I had hoped for something like The Unloved or Suffer the Children.

The writing was engaging, but there were some plot holes that really nagged at me. Also that ending was atrocious.

Creepy but misleading novel. The main conflict wasn't what I thought it was. I is a fun, quick Scooby-Doo-like read.

The story has an interesting premise. I just had a hard time understanding the actions of the female characters. Also felt the author must have lost interest in the story as the ending was most unsatisfying. I usually enjoy the author's books

Terrifying

this was an excellent and creepy mystery. There was qlot of backstoeiwz going on, but eyes tied together really neatly

If this book were a food, it'd be dollar store instant potato flakes.

A poor "The Shining" wanna-be. It passed the time ok, but I'd have much rather put my efforts into something more worthwhile.

Not great. Very far fetched. Hard to take interest in. This was my 2nd John Saul book. Absolutely loved the 1st one.

This was a lot different from what I was expecting. It was interesting and creepy, it just didn't go in the direction I thought it would.

First time reading John Saul and I loved every bit of it. The perfect amount of spooky story telling with enough twists to keep the pages turning.
