I didn't much care for this book.. I thought the story was going well until the end.. The last hundred pages of the book, I thought the story got lost (or I got lost).. It ruined the whole story for me, thus I gave it two stars.. Saul has written much better..

I have enjoyed many of John Saul's novels, and while I enjoyed reading this, when I was finished I feel like I had missed something. I like to read before I go to bed, and it's usually the "the words are swimming but one more page" type of deal, and I feel like I shouldn't have done that with this book. I want to read this again, but I'm afraid I will again miss some main point of the story. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I read it; it might just have been better had I not read most of it when exhausted.

3.5 stars. Very good, but the book did little to explain the psychic abilities and connections betweens characters, which was frustrating, and then suddenly ended. I've only read 2 Saul books but I'm already picking up the 'evil always wins' vibe. I even predicted it this time...

I loved it until the end. I did not understand the ending. It didn't make any sense and that just ruined it for me because I still want to know the reason for Nathaniel and who he is...

Woooah what a freaking twist!!!!

Old school '80s horror, from a prolific yet underserved author, relying on a plain, easy-to-read prose style to tell an event-filled and atmospheric narrative, saving all of his twists and turns for the very end. I vaguely recall not enjoying the couple of Saul's books I read back in the day, but this one was excellent.

I liked this book. Suspenseful and eerie. I kept wanting to go back to my book and continue reading throughout the day!

One of my favourite books by one of my favourite authors. Not as good as I remember from the first time I read this book many years ago, but still good.

worst john saul I've ever read

This was somewhat interesting, but there were some weird messages. The idea that Anna kept herself in the wheel chair all those years is absolutely wild and a very questionable concept.
