Absolutely horrible. A werewolf man developed by the government through DNA manipulation? Then said hybrid was able to reproduce? And the kid was also a werewolf? What an awful imagination. But what is worse? I didn’t even care if any of the characters died…that’s how one dimensional and annoying everyone was…should have killed off the main character in fact. Not even the relationships were realistic. Why the hell even write about the husband if it makes the story even worse? Utter trash.

This was the first "grown-up" novel I ever read. Sounds cheese huh? I was 10 years old and a total bookworm who had read every Christopher Pike, R. L. Stine, and Babysitter's Club book available! My best friend, also a superreader, snuck it from her dad's library and gave it to me. I immediately fell in love with the horror genre and thus became the up-all-night-must-finish-just-one-more-chapter-flashlight's-going-dead-bookworm I am today. John Saul scared the living crap out of me as a kid and continues to do so today.

I enjoyed this one to start but by the end I kind of just wanted it to be over.

Let me just say wow. This book was chilling to say the least. The gov. altering DNA, Brutal murders, I could swear I heard the theme from psycho playing in my head during parts of this book and of course I felt a mother's pain at losing one of her children. I swear this book caused me to have chill bumps. I fully reconmend it 100%.

This is a good fast paced and engrossing story that follows MaryAnne Carpenter and her family as they move to a secluded ranch following the death of her friend and her husband in two separate accidents. However all is not as it seems with their surviving son Joey or the circumstances around their deaths, and those of their friends and neighbours. Granted there is nothing amazingly unique in this story but it is well written, engrossing and entertaining with plenty of interplay between the various characters with the added bonus of MaryAnne's husband who adds an excellent hate figure for good measure. Overall not a bad read at all.

OMG! This was such as awesome book. People are dying in this small town called sugarloaf and no one is sure what is responsible. A little is prone to violent episodes but can he really be the one responsible for these tragic deaths?

This book really took me by surprise, I was expecting a mental health diagnoses, even if it wasn’t manageable and things still went South. In actuality, things took a way sharper turn. The flawless transition between characters perspectives kept me on edge the entire time, trying to figure out how everything pieced together. I wish there was more insight into Audrey and Ted’s thought processes, regarding the decisions they made, but the book is no worse for having neglected this angle.

Meh, not as good as I was expecting, and I noticed a few gramatical errors. Decent, but not something I'd read more than once.
