This was my first John Saul book. By far, it is my favorite.

I went through a phase with these creepy sci-fi books when I was about 14. I'm not sure what I would make of it if I read it now. It's not really my thing anymore. But I sure did love it back then. (shiver)

Something fishy is going on in the once quiet town of Eastbury, Massachusetts, where two women are brought together after losing a child. Sally Montgomery loses her infant daughter Julie to SIDS, but she is convinced it was something else. Lucy Corliss loses her son Randy, who is reported as a runaway, but she is convinced he was kidnapped. Both parents discover that their children were secretly being surveyed by CHILD (Children's Health Institute for Latent Diseases) without consent, but why? Written over twenty years ago, I expected this book to be a bit outdated, but John Saul points out the horrifying possibilities and ethical issues surrounding technology that remain a concern to this day, terrifying, one of his best works! I highly recommend this book, conspiracy theories, genetic engineering, kidnapping, murder, this book has it all, a must read!

The God Project, is a thriller without doubt with evil lurking in the limelight, that is purely man made . The question it will answer is: What is causing the death of so many babies and young children? The answer may be closer than you think.

When you mix a drug company with a project and research, you will get the answer that has plagued the parents in this small town. The book is well written, and will send chills down your spine, but was too bio-fanatical for my liking. A good read nonetheless.

Written in the "good ol' days" before WiFi etc, the challenge to search medical records in order to discover what is happening to young children leads a disparate group of family/friends/and other interested parties to work together to save their children. Who to trust? Trust your family? trust your doctor? trust people you've never met before? As always, the devil is in the details.

Interesting concept - secret genetic engineering of super warriors. Quick read but not much depth.

Amazing book, I've never read another book like this one. I am simply touched by the writing, and though it may be a book of despicable and gruesome events, I see the true meaning behind it. Accept everybody as a gift wanted or not. Love who you have. Love what you have. Make sure you keep these things with you. Should they leave, do what you can to bring them back.

Kind of a strange book. Not a lot of action for the
first half of the book. Then the suspense did pick
up. I did not not care for the ending at all, unless
there is a sequel. It just didn't seem complete. The
story did hold my interest, just lacked a little suspense.
I will definately continue to read John Saul, though!

Wow. Talk about creepy. Two mothers find out that something isn't right with their sons. Not only are they extremely healthy, but they can't get hurt. Something is happening in the town of Eastbury and it's affecting their children. It's really hard to talk about what happens without giving away any spoilers, but it's definitely a quick read. I couldn't put it down! Stuff like this creeps me out.

In the small town of Eastbury, kids start to go missing and two distraught mothers team up to find out what and who's behind the strange dissappearances. This leads them to CHILD, an organization primarily set up to analyze genetics in children who they believe are special.

I've only read 2 of his books so far and it seems like he likes writing about secret institutions running crazy experiments on random people. Not exactly a bad premise but The God Project lacked plausibility. It really didn't explain a lot about the hows/whys and instead kept doling out far fetched theories and ideas about birth control, IUDs and computer technology etc.

This I think is my last John Saul novel. I think he had a good idea but it just didn't come off the page well and lacked a ton of research that should have been done in the first place. It started ok in the first couple of chapters and then went downhill fast. Not his best.

It’s only in the past few years that I have learned to appreciate the books of John Saul. I find that some books in this genre are not easy to follow or are not overly startling. His books are neither. I read this in two days, basically, and it is a really unique, easy to read, edge of your seat book. I enjoyed it immensely, and will continue to read more books from him.
